Marrakech

This day trip takes you directly through the High Atlas mountain range and the famous Tizi-n-Tichka Pass. It was one of the most important fortresses on the old salt road caravan routes, where traders brought slaves, gold, ivory and salt from sub-Saharan Africa to Marrakech and beyond.

Highlights
  • Tizi n Tichka - Before embarking on great adventures in the desert, the stage of Ouarzazate is a must. An ancestral city that is developing to become a giant open-air cinema.
Built in 1928, Ouarzazate has grown from a stopover town to a destination in its own right. It is full of sumptuous ocher adobe buildings, the most famous of which are the Kasbah of Taourirt, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, that of Tiffoultoute and that of Aït Benhaddou.
Enjoy the beautiful Panoramic views from the second highest peak in the Atlas mountain range.

Rock the kasbah - Very long ride. Most of the 12 hour journey was the ride alibg the curvy valleys. Some people even got car sick. But when you are actually walking around Aït Ben Haddou, you will feel rewarded. The pick up is around 7 am and you will get lunch around 2pm so prepare something to nibble. Of course they do stops here and there but touristic spots are always full of people and you are not sure if you will get your snack or not, or get nervous if your van hits the road without you(it actually can happen because there are so many people and so many same looking vans). It gets very cold up in the mountain then when you reach the kasbah it gets hot again so wearing in layers will help. Lunch maybe was the most disappointing part of the journey, it was nothing authentic nothing special but a typical tourist restaurant with ridiculous price and slow service. But i was too hungry to complain. :) When you send text message via whatsapp they quickly respond, the pick up was punctual, the staff were super kind and helpful, and everything was very well organised. I was little bit hesitant to take thus trip reading so many negative reviews (of other agencies who do the same routes) but i was really happy i did do this trip.

A travel in the the time... - A travel in the time: After being 2 days in Marrakech we decided to make an excursion to Ouarzazate and Aït Ben Haddou (stage of a lots of Hollywood movies, but not only this, also a stage of real life) , after asking for prices at the hotels we decided to go to an agency. In the Great Travel agency, which is about 5-10 minutes from the Mosque and Jama Lafna Square, Madhi attended us, he explained in a very kind, precise and transparent way the details of the excursion and gave us a much more price Economical, it was half of what we were asked in the hotel. He was in charge of managing everything and told us that if in doubt we could contact the telephone or whatsapp too, the next day they picked us up at the hotel and we did the excursion without any problem. Madhi made managing everything very fast and easy and also always with a smile and a service 10. Thanks for the experience, 100% recommended for any type of traveler, whether alone or as a couple, family or friends. Many thanks for the experience! :) Jose. Spain

Stunning Place - It’s a mammoth journey to get there but the scenery on route is spectacular. The tour itself was pretty good and the guide was very enthusiastic and informative. Only downside was the restaurant where they take you to eat. Waited 45 mins for food which was ok at best. Got picked up from the hotel at 7.10am and dropped back at 8.30pm and most of it was driving. So long day but worth the money.

Nice to see the place but too many sales pitches. - The guide and driver were excellent but there were too many sales pitches on the places we visited. It was not so pleasant with the very pushy sellers. Also I was disappointed that we had to pay for entrance in the museums and for the guide. My initial understanding was that everything was included in the price of the tour.

Long journey short stop. - A lot of inaccuracies in the description of this trip. "Admission ticket to Tizi n Tichka is included" - admission to what, it's a stop at the side of the road to take photos by a roadside 'café' (and you had to pay for the toilets). "Ksar of Ait-Ben-Haddou duration three hours" - we were in and out within an hour, what a shame because we found it a very interesting place we would have liked to have been able to get the benefit of such a long ride. A further 19km then to Maroc just for lunch - nothing else. Sandwiched in between a couple of comfort breaks (more money for toilets), a ten minute stop at a Women's argan oil collective (hope you buy!) and a twenty minute visit to a cooperative textile unit (hope you buy!). Does this sound like it's worth the more than 14 hours from hotel pick up to hotel drop off that we experienced? Our driver actually handled the tortuous route very well.
