A Wonderful to Behold. I Am Forever Changed. - I wasn’t especially excited to see this particular site in Marrakech…I suppose I just didn’t know what to expect. Let me tell you, this space blew my mind!!!! When talking about it afterwards, I honestly could not hold back tears. The care that went into building and restoring this magnificent house of Islamic learning speaks to the high regard Morocco has for its history and culture. I’m not Muslim, but I truly felt I was in a holy, special place and my soul was touched. We were fortunate enough to hear some information being given by some guides there and next time I will take a tour to learn more about the wonders I was beholding. But even without a guide, I had a hard time keeping my mouth from hanging open as I walked through the vast, ancient, architecturally outstanding piece of history. The architecture had my heart, and the videos of the recent restoration included in the exhibit were well done and very interesting. It was amazing to be able to go into the many student rooms and see how each was a bit different than the next. I imagined myself as a student there and wished I could set up my home office at Ben Youssef—the atmosphere was just so inspiring! I felt motivated like never before witnessing just one inch of the work that went into this truly incredible building. This site is a must see and every person in the world, especially students of Islam, should be fortunate enough to experience its beauty. We were pressed for time throughout our trip, but if I could, I would have returned here every day.

Stunningly beautiful - Very special. Tile and etching are simply special. So much to take in just a few rooms. Definitely worth visiting. Amazing craftsmanship.

Medersa Ben Youssef - Beautifully restored Quran school with a picturesque central pool. 50MAD entry which is a bargain as this building is arguably in better condition than the Bahia Palace which is twice the price. Only criticism is the student rooms are very repetitive & there are a lot of them. Take a look at one & you’ve pretty much seen them all.

Medersa Ben Youssef - We visited the Medersa Ben Youssef as a part of Marrakech Guided Walking Tour. We really enjoyed the Coranic School, it was mainly based in Islamic Sutdies.

Beautiful, must see. Favorite of all the sites - Beautiful school. We went 30 min after opening and it was perfect, felt like we had the court yard to ourselves. Recommend going early to avoid the crowds because by 10am, people start pouring in. And start at the courtyard first. The rooms will feel more private bc there are so many of them.

Koranic school in Arab-Andalusian stie - Koranic school near a mosque of the same name. The school has an Arabic architecture and also echoes that of Andalusia whose styles have merged over the years due to Arab incursions into Spain. It was the largest school in Morocco. Entering you immediately notice the inner courtyard in which, in the center, there is a large bathtub for ablutions. On the walls there are stucco decorations. The sculptures have geometric and floral patterns as Islam does not allow human or zoomorphic images to be depicted. Around the central courtyard there are 132 cells that were inhabited by about 900 students.

Part of the must see attractions - It’s a must see attraction in Marrakesh. In the Medina you can visit the Medersa. You can buy your tkts at the entrance, paying cash, and there are audio tours in case you don’t have a guide. It’s really part of the history and an interesting place to visit. Should take you around 45min. Not wheelchair accessible all the way. I would say only part of it.

Stunning building, reasonable entry price - This really was a stunning building with so many intricate carvings and beautiful architecture all around. We also visited Bahia Palace but I found this to be superior.

Stunning architecture - Must visit. There’s brilliant Archie all around, inside and outside. We spent about 1.5 hours of an afternoon just walking and exploring the medina. It can get crowded during some evenings.
