Amazing tour! Recommend this to any and all! - The meeting point was very easy to find and Mohamed found us promptly and with no problem. Immediately he made us feel welcome and explained the tour routes. We started our tour with a thorough tour/explanation of Moroccan spices, teas, and cosmetics. Then we came upon a leather shop where we got to see leather products be hand made. Mohamed made my friend and I, two young study-abroad students, feel safe and welcome. I could not recommend enough doing this tour with Mohamed and it’s something I’ll remember for the rest of my life and the highlight of my trip.

Morocco, it was in my bucket list!. - Everything was amazing, we had the best time of our lives, great family memories, we ate a lot, we wish we stayed longer. The coffees are delicious, the street food is tasty and of curse the restaurants have a great traditional food, tagines, cuscus, kebabs, mint tea, spiced coffees etc. Everything is very yummy. The train system is great and easy to navigate from one city to nother. And the transit system is very good.

The Souks of Marrakesh - Mohamed was excellent in helping us navigate the souks, and unlike the other mainstream shops, he really found us the best deals and took us straight to the craftsmen and artisan shops that were super authentic and superior quality. His knowledge about the products and cafés around is amazing and he’s great company as well. Highly recommend!

Local guidance and advice - Ali was a great guide and took us to so many areas that would have been difficult to find and navigate by ourselves. He also gives good advice on the best quality sellers to buy certain products from. Lots of opportunities to buy various products and Ali lets the craftsmen explain their process in each place. It is a bit manic at the meeting place as there are various tours kicking off at the same time, so be patient and Ali will find you.

Well worth the walk! - Private Walking and Shopping tour in the Souks of Marrakech As the Souk’s alleys and dark passages can be intimidating we hired a tour guide for a couple of hours to show us the way. We met our guide Hussein outside the Cafe du France. A landmark which was easy to find in Jemaa el-Fnaa Square. Hussein was welcoming, friendly and spoke several languages with his English very good. We were joined by one other English lady (Annie from Wensleydale) with our walk starting North of the Souks, Hussein explained the different neighbourhood/ communities etc. At a brisk pace he took us down lots of tiny alleys with twists and turns that would easily confuse and render us lost without him. Our first stop was at the Herboristerie Le 35 Épices which was an impressive herb, spice and cosmetic wholesaler. The main product on sale was argan oil and after being demonstrated the manufacturing process we were shown a large range of products for sale and offered a delicious mint tea. A small purchase and off we set again through the alleys deep in the Souk taking in the interesting aromas which were mostly pleasant. Some of the tiny, centuries old workstations were eyeopening, as were the skills of the master tradesmen either hard at work or sipping coffee. Our next stop was the ‘Gem of Marrakech’ according to Hussein. The Madrasa Ben Youssef is an architectural treasure deep in the heart of the old Medina of Marrakech. Constructed by Sultan Abdullah Al-Ghaleb Assaadi between the years 1564 and 1565 it is of invaluable historical significance. Wandering within its walls takes you to a fascinating era where art, knowledge, and culture flourish. After a couple of great photo opportunities and a wealth of knowledge imparted by Hussein off we went on our brisk walk again. This time we visited the tannery, blacksmiths, silversmiths and spice stalls. A real step back in time. Sellers regularly approach trying to sell their goods so I can understand why Hussein walked at pace. Next stop was Souk des Teinturiers where the dying process for wool and other materials was explained. The colourful bundles of wool drying above the stalls was really impressive. A quick display of how to wear the head scarfs with me as the ‘dummy’ created real entertainment. Next up was the Place des Épices with all its spice stalls plus some strange objects allegedly fish eggs floating in water trays. A real feast for the senses with every trader enticing you to buy. The tour was a great way to see and learn from a knowledgable guide, it was far more than just shopping and walking, it was entertaining, insightful and really not to be missed. You could relax knowing you didn’t have to find your way out ofthe maze of Souks. After leaving Hussein, we had a delicious lunch in Cafe des Épices followed by mint tea. Even in the heat of Marrakech the hot mint tea was outstanding and highly recommended. Thanks to Hussein for his knowledge and time, recommended to get your bearings in the Souks and for Hussein knowledge.
