- Koutoubia Mosque - Koutoubia Mosque is the largest mosque in Marrakech, Morocco. The mosque is also known by several other names, such as Jami ‘al-Kutubiyah, the Kotoubia Mosque, the Kutubiya Mosque, the Kutubiyyin Mosque, and the Booksellers’ Mosque. It is located in the district of the south-west medina of Marrakech. The mosque is adorned with curved windows, a strip of ceramic, pointed merlons, and decorative arches; it has a large square with gardens and is illuminated at night. The minaret, 77 meters (253 feet) high, includes an arrow and orbs.
- Mellah - While many monuments and sites are noteworthy, Marrakech, much like Fez, can boast its Jewish and Islamic pasts that bring flavor and appeal to a co-existent country with its beautiful Jewish Quarter.
- Bab Agnaou - While its nearby neighbor Bab er-Robb serves as the official entrance to the city, Bab Agnaou functions as the main entrance to the Kasbah, which is the site of the El Badi Palace, the Saadian Tombs, and the El Mansouria (the kasbah mosque). Bab Agnaou is perhaps the most unique of Marrakech’s nineteen gates, and its original function as a royal entrance is perhaps the reason for this. The corner-pieces are decorated with floral designs extending around a shell, which is simply exquisite, and this ornamentation is framed by three panels, on which is an inscription from the Quran.
- Bahia Palace - The palace of Bahia (palace of the beautiful, the brilliant) is a nineteenth-century palace of eight hectares located in Marrakech. It is one of the masterpieces of Moroccan architecture, one of the major monuments of the country’s cultural heritage, and one of the main tourist attractions in Morocco.
- Food Markets of Marrakech - Explore the diverse food markets of Marrakech.
- Herboristerie la Sagesse - Discover Morocco’s herbs, spices, and oils.
- Les Nomades De Marrakech - Visiting here is like entering an Aladdin’s Cave of carpets. Carpets from floor to ceiling. There isn’t a single square inch of space that isn’t occupied by amazing carpets.
- Jemaa el-Fna - Jamaâ El Fna is a destination for all magic. Meet its storytellers, dancers, water sellers, snake and monkey charmers, and learn about the history of Morocco from yesterday and today.
- Jardin Majorelle - The Yves Saint Laurent Garden, also known as Jardin Majorelle, is a vibrant oasis in the heart of Marrakech. Originally designed in the 1920s by French painter Jacques Majorelle, this enchanting garden was later restored by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner, Pierre Bergé. With its striking cobalt blue buildings, exotic plants, and tranquil pathways, Jardin Majorelle offers a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle, reflecting the artistic spirit and timeless elegance that captivated Saint Laurent. Today, it remains one of Marrakech’s most beloved attractions, blending nature, art, and history in a truly unique setting.
- Mederssa Ben Youssef - Medersa Ben Youssef is a captivating gem nestled within the heart of Marrakech. As visitors venture into this ancient Islamic college, they are transported back in time to a place of profound learning and spiritual devotion. The intricate stonework, mesmerizing tile patterns, and delicate carvings adorning the walls tell tales of a rich architectural heritage. Visitors wander through the serene courtyard, where the echoes of past scholars seem to linger in the air. The tranquil ambiance invites contemplation, while the intricate details and inscriptions ignite curiosity about the intellectual pursuits that once took place here. Medersa Ben Youssef is a testament to the enduring legacy of knowledge and the timeless beauty of Islamic art and architecture. It leaves an indelible impression on visitors’ souls as they bid farewell to this architectural marvel and continue their exploration of Marrakech.
- Museum of Marrakesh - Located in the heart of the Medina, the Musée de Marrakech is set within the beautifully restored Dar Menebhi Palace, a 19th-century mansion that showcases traditional Moroccan architecture. The museum offers a diverse collection of art and historical artifacts, including contemporary paintings, ceramics, textiles, and intricate woodwork. Visitors can explore its stunning courtyards, adorned with traditional tilework and a grand central fountain, while learning about Morocco’s rich cultural heritage. The Musée de Marrakech is not just a place for art lovers but a unique cultural experience that brings the history and craftsmanship of Marrakech to life.
- Musee Berbere Jardin Majorelle - Nestled within the lush grounds of Jardin Majorelle, the Musée Berbère is a fascinating museum dedicated to the rich heritage and culture of Morocco’s Berber people. Housed in a charming building adorned in the garden’s iconic cobalt blue, the museum showcases a stunning collection of traditional Berber artifacts, including intricate jewelry, textiles, ceramics, and tools. Each exhibit offers a glimpse into the daily life, craftsmanship, and artistic traditions of Morocco’s oldest indigenous people. The Musée Berbère provides visitors with a deeper understanding of the Berber identity, set against the beautiful backdrop of one of Marrakech’s most famous gardens.
