Highlights
  • Atlas Mountains - Discover the diversity of the landscapes surrounding Marrakech on this day trip taking in valleys, hidden villages, lakes and mountains.
We pick you up in Marrakech and drive out to the lake at Lalla Takerkoust for an hour and half horse riding near the rocky Agafay Desert. Views from here are outstanding with the backdrop of the High Atlas mountains. Our trip takes us up onto the Kik Plateau, sometimes called the breadbasket of the area; it is an elevated plateau where the fields are still ploughed by man and donkeys, and where each family has a plot of land to grow wheat. In spring it is a magical place full of wild flowers and red poppies. Lunch will be in a local house in Ouirgane where you can experience the warm hospitality of an Amazigh family and delicious home-cooking. In the afternoon, we discover two of the valleys in this part of the High Atlas as we drive through hidden villages where life goes on in time honoured fashion, respecting the cycles of nature and where cultures and traditions remain strong. We pass through the forested trails of Sidi Faress and descend to the fertile Ourika Valley before returning you to Marrakech.

Magic outside Marrakesh. - It was a terrific day. The drivers who picked me up were a chatting and charming pair of gentleman. The horse back riding was a huge amount of fun as we strolled for 90min through the edge of the Afgay desert. But the highlight of the day was a visit to the Berber village of Asne where I got to walk through a section of the village before dining at the home of Rashid, the manager of the tour company. He and his family were hospitable beyond measure. Nothing was forgotten or missed. It was one of my best days in Morocco.

My first hike: Atlas Mountains - Awesome experience! We were group of 3. Made arrangements from India through emails. As paying from India was a problem they agreed to take money in Morocco. Highly professional, kind and caring staff. The trek was very well organized by Rachid. Yusuf the guide is a very nice person. As it was my first trek he was very patient and caring. He gave me many valuable lessons. Hussain the cook made the best Moroccan food I had in all of Morocco. Picnics in the walnut orchards and under the Juniper tree are the moments one live for…..:))
