Additional Information

Essaouira, or ‘the ex-Mogador’, a small fortified city of blue and white, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2001 and nestled about 175 km west of Marrakech, is continuously brushed by trade winds. In the 1970s, this port town was the ‘Mecca of Hippies’, known for its Vauban fortifications and medina… With a rich historical background as a former trading hub and serving as a muse, it draws in creatives from across the world who appreciate genuine culture and sophistication - including artists, authors, filmmakers such as Orson Welles for ‘Othello’, and a plethora of musicians particularly during the thrilling Gnaoua music festival held in June… Essaouira is also famed for its thuja cabinet-making, luxury timbers emitting delicate fragrances that weave through the medina alleyways and the mellah - the Jewish district - where you can experience the archways of shops balanced in harmony and filled with an airy atmosphere… making for a sensory adventure for those with a knack for striking a bargain…

Great experience! - The trip was well organized, our driver Ibrahim did an amazing job. He was very polite, kind, made several stops to use the WC or have a coffee, the way he drive the car felt safe and even if it was very hot the temperature in the car was cool. Even I have traveled with strangers, the atmosphere in the car was friendly and sooner or later we already all knew each other. I would highly recommend Ibrahim and his services and will definitely reach out to him when I return to Morocco :-)

Fantastic Trip - A group of us went to Marrakech for a holiday. We booked a day trip via Dayout Marrakech. They asked us how many people were in our party and when we told them there was only 5 people - they sent us a mini bus with a driver called Asdeen. He made us feel most welcome in Marrakech during our trip to Essaruria. Asdeen made the journey to and from Essaruria very interesting by sharing his knowledge of various landmarks along the way. We has missed breakfast so we asked him for a good restaurant to have lunch at and he took us to a nice restaurant that none of would have even known about unless some we had known recommended it to us. The food was delicious and caters well for vegetarians too (like myself!) I will definitely use Dayout Marrakech or recommend this company to anyone who goes to Marrakech - whether for a stag or hen party of just a chill out holiday! If you do book with them - make sure you ask for Asdeen to be your driver! You won't be disappointed!

Well worth the trip - Great trip the driver turned up on time to collect us from our hotel, we stopped on the way to see the goats in the trees and was good also to see the process of the argan oil production at the factory. 👍🏻

Great trip for fair price - We booked the trip spontaneously the day before. It was a comfortable way to get to the coast from Marrakech. The driver didn't speak English, but it was not needed since the trip was pretty much only about the transport. We did a few stops along the way to get food/drinks and a picture of the goat tree. Definitely fair price and Essaouira is a beautiful escape from the city.

Don’t do if on a time crunch - Do not do this tour if you have a tight schedule and have to be back in Marrakech by an exact time. Tour was meant to start at 8, we were not picked up until 830, and did not leave Marrakech until 10am. During the pickup, the driver got into an altercation with someone on the street and punches were thrown, and people were hitting the bus - somewhat a scary experience. In addition, I had selected English tour, but the driver spoke French and everyone else on the bus spoke French. We made 2 stops along the way - one for a drink/bathroom, the other for Argan oil, of which there was reference of goats in trees - they don’t exist. We arrived in Essaouira around 1pm, and we left at 5pm. We had a stop at the drink / bathroom location on the way back, but did not get back to Marrakech until 830pm.
