Marrakech - Begin your journey early in the morning from your riad or hotel in Marrakesh, traveling across the high Atlas Mountains via the Tichka Pass (2260 m), the highest road pass in Morocco. This route offers stunning panoramic views of the mountains and valleys, with picturesque scenery in various colors and Berber villages along the way. You’ll visit several Kasbahs, including Tamnougalte and Ait Benhaddou. Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site from the 16th century, is one of the most renowned Kasbahs in Morocco and a popular location for Hollywood films. The journey continues through the Draa River Valley, lined with palm trees, until you reach Zagora, the capital of dates. From there, proceed towards the Sahara Desert gateway at Mhamid. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at a nomadic standard camp.
M’HAMID/SIDI NAJI
M’Hamid - After breakfast at the camp, depart Mhamid on foot with a guide and a camel caravan, heading towards the Palm Grove. Tea and lunch will be served in the shade of Tamaris trees. After a rest, continue trekking to the sanctuary of Sidi Naji, a place rich in history and local customs, where legend says a marabout once lived. Set up camp at the foot of the sand dunes, with free time until dinner. Enjoy the starry sky and the serene silence of the desert.
Sidi Naji/Erg Zahar
M’Hamid - After breakfast, head towards Erg Zahar. After approximately 4 hours of walking, you’ll encounter the stunning golden dunes and expansive mountains near the Algerian border. Set up camp and gather around the campfire, with free time to relax.
Erg Zahar/M’hamid
M’Hamid - After a memorable night in Erg Zahar, continue your trek to Kraat Jamal, passing through the town of Lahdybat where you’ll have lunch.
