As a solo traveler, I felt completely at home — thank you, The Moroccan Tour!” - Traveling solo in Morocco, I was looking for meaningful experiences beyond the usual tourist stops. I had already done the Atlas Mountains and Agafay Desert tours with The Moroccan Tour, and both were incredible — well-organized, friendly, and full of local insight. So I decided to try their Moroccan cooking class, and it ended up being one of the highlights of my trip. The class takes place in the family home of Zohra, the warm and talented cook, and her lovely daughter Fatima, who translates and guides the experience. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely welcomed — like part of the family. We prepared taktouka, zaalouk, chicken tagine with preserved lemon, and even made traditional Moroccan bread from scratch. It was hands-on, fun, and full of laughter and stories. Fatima shared insights not only about the food but also about Moroccan culture, traditions, and daily life. Eating the meal we prepared together, sipping mint tea, and chatting in the cozy living room was a truly authentic and heartwarming moment. For any solo traveler looking to connect with real Moroccan hospitality, I can’t recommend this experience — or The Moroccan Tour — enough.

A perfect family experience with The Moroccan Tour! - Our family had already enjoyed two amazing tours with The Moroccan Tour — the Atlas Mountains trip and the Agafay Desert adventure — so we were excited to try their cooking class. It did not disappoint! Cooking with Zohra and her daughter Fatima in their cozy home was such a lovely experience. We made taktouka, zaalouk, homemade Moroccan bread, and a delicious chicken tagine together. Zohra was incredibly kind and patient with our kids, and Fatima’s clear explanations helped everyone follow along easily. The hands-on nature of the class kept our children engaged, and sharing the meal together at the end felt like being part of a real Moroccan family. It was a wonderful way to learn about Moroccan culture and cuisine. We highly recommend The Moroccan Tour for families — their tours and experiences are professional, fun, and truly authentic!

Another fantastic experience with The Moroccan Tour — the cooking class was amazing! - We’re a group of friends who already did two incredible tours with The Moroccan Tour — the Atlas Mountains trip and the Agafay Desert tour — and both were unforgettable. So, when we heard about their Moroccan cooking class with Zohra and Fatima, we didn’t hesitate to join. The cooking class was just as wonderful! We made taktouka, zaalouk, homemade Moroccan bread, and a delicious chicken tagine. Zohra, the mom, was so warm and kind, and her daughter Fatima did a great job translating and explaining everything clearly. The whole atmosphere felt like being welcomed into a real Moroccan family’s home. It was hands-on, fun, and full of authentic flavors. Sharing the meal together with them at the end was the perfect way to finish the day. If you’re thinking about booking any tours or activities with The Moroccan Tour, don’t hesitate — all their experiences are top quality and truly special!

Feels Like Visiting Family You Never Knew You Had - From the moment we stepped inside, Zohra and Fatima made us feel like part of their family. The whole experience was full of smiles, delicious smells, and warm conversations. Zohra cooked with such care and skill, and Fatima made everything accessible, explaining the traditions behind each dish. We cooked zaalouk, taktouka, and a slow-cooked chicken tagine with preserved lemon. Learning to make the bread by hand was one of the most memorable parts — especially when we sat down later to eat it warm from the pan. This class is more than just about food — it’s about culture, connection, and shared humanity. A must-do in Marrakech.

A Delicious Cultural Exchange - This experience was the definition of authentic. We didn’t just learn to cook — we were invited into the heart of a Moroccan home. Zohra, with her gentle presence and experienced hands, guided us through traditional recipes, while Fatima explained each step, adding cultural context and personal stories that made it all come to life. We made taktouka, zaalouk, and the most flavorful chicken tagine I’ve ever had. The process of kneading and baking the homemade bread gave us a true appreciation for how much love goes into Moroccan food. If you’re looking for something real — not touristy or rushed — this is it. We left with full stomachs and full hearts.

An Unforgettable Day with a Moroccan Family - We joined Zohra and her daughter Fatima’s cooking class, and it truly felt like spending a day with family. Zohra’s warmth and gentle guidance made the kitchen a welcoming place even for beginners. Fatima translated every step with patience and enthusiasm, sharing stories about Moroccan culture that enriched the experience. We made taktouka and zaalouk, two vibrant salads bursting with flavor, then a classic chicken tagine with preserved lemon and olives. While the tagine simmered, we learned to make traditional Moroccan bread from scratch. The hands-on experience of kneading dough was surprisingly fun! Sharing the meal around their family table with fresh mint tea felt so special — like being invited into their home rather than just attending a class. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an authentic Moroccan cooking experience.

An unforgettable afternoon between friends and Moroccan flavors - We were a group of friends looking for a local experience in Marrakech, and we found much more than that. This cooking class at the home of Zohra and her daughter Fatima was undoubtedly one of the most authentic and special moments of our trip. Since we arrived, we felt at home. Zohra, with her calm smile and expert hands, taught us how to prepare traditional recipes with lots of love and patience. Although she didn’t speak our language, Fatima was in charge of translating everything perfectly, and also made the atmosphere very close and fun. Together we cooked taktouka (a salad of peppers and tomatoes) and zaalouk (based on eggplants), two dishes that we did not know and that we loved for their homemade and authentic flavor. Then came the entree: a spectacular chicken tajine with preserved lemon and olives, full of aromas and slow cooked as they do in real Moroccan houses. While the tajine was cooking, we prepared the traditional Moroccan bread from scratch, learning to knead and shape as families do here. It was great fun to do it together, laugh and help each other while we waited for the bread to brown. The best thing came in the end: sit down together at the table, share the meal we had prepared, accompanied by a delicious mint tea, and chat with Zohra and Fatima as if we were part of their family. We recommend this experience to any group of friends who want to do something different, authentic and full of flavor in Marrakech. We take not only recipes, but precious memories.

Like Being Adopted by a Moroccan Family for the Day - What a magical day. From the moment we walked into Zohra’s home, we were treated like old friends. She’s the kind of host who puts love into every dish, every movement, every gesture — even if we didn’t speak the same language, her warmth came through in every smile. Thankfully, her daughter Fatima was there to translate and guide us every step of the way. She’s friendly, articulate, and full of passion for sharing Moroccan traditions. We learned to make zaalouk (a smoky eggplant dip) and taktouka (a pepper and tomato salad) — both flavorful and healthy. Zohra showed us how to handle the vegetables with care, slowly building layers of flavor. Then we worked together on the chicken tagine, adding preserved lemons, garlic, saffron, and olives — and let it simmer while we made homemade Moroccan bread from scratch. We rolled, shaped, and cooked the bread on a flat pan — simple ingredients turned into something amazing. Finally, we sat around the table, chatting, eating, and sipping mint tea. It wasn’t just a meal — it was a moment of connection I’ll never forget.

Real Moroccan Cooking with Real Moroccan Hospitality” - Spending an afternoon with Zohra and Fatima was one of the most genuine and joyful experiences I’ve had while traveling. This isn’t your typical cooking class in a professional kitchen — this is stepping into someone’s home, rolling up your sleeves, and learning traditional recipes passed down through generations. Zohra is a master in the kitchen — calm, confident, and full of love. She doesn’t speak English, but her daughter Fatima is an incredible translator and storyteller. Fatima explained not just the steps, but the meaning behind each dish — why we roast the peppers for taktouka, how the flavors in zaalouk reflect the seasons, and how every family makes chicken tagine just a little differently. Making bread from scratch was so satisfying. We kneaded the dough by hand, shaped it carefully, and baked it until it was warm and perfect for dipping in sauce. When we finally sat down to eat, it felt more like a family meal than a cooking class. There was laughter, second helpings, and lots of tea. Absolutely unforgettable.

More Than a Cooking Class — A Day with New Friends - What an incredible experience. I’ve taken cooking classes before, but this one, hosted by Zohra and her daughter Fatima, felt like something entirely different — warm, intimate, and completely real. Zohra welcomed us into her home like we were part of her family. Her daughter Fatima was an amazing host — so kind, fluent in English and French, and full of warmth. She explained each step, translated everything her mother shared, and brought so much life to the experience. We started by making zaalouk and taktouka. I had never tasted eggplant cooked that way — it was smoky, silky, and spiced just right. Then we learned to prepare the famous chicken tagine with lemon and olives. The aromas that came from the tagine as it simmered were mouthwatering — saffron, turmeric, garlic, and preserved lemon filled the air. Zohra doesn’t rush anything — every step is done with care and joy. One of the most memorable moments was learning to make homemade Moroccan bread. The dough was soft and simple, but Zohra showed us how to shape it just right. We cooked it on a hot griddle and it came out golden and warm — perfect for dipping into the sauces we had just made. We finished by sitting down with Zohra and Fatima, eating the meal together as if we were family. There was tea pouring, and smiles all around. If you’re looking for a real taste of Morocco — in every sense — this is it.
