Excellent guides, great food, amazing scenery - Found Atlastriptours on Tripadvisor. They set the two of us up with a private tour to M'Goun. This is a rigorous and rewarding trek through stupendous scenery. You will see other hikers and in the warmer months nomad shepherds and goatherds. Depending on the size of your group there is a guide, a muleteer, one or more mules, and additional staff as needed. On our trip we slept in tents for two nights and refuges and hotels the others. This trek is also a quick intro to the very hospitable and ancient Berber/Tamazigh culture. Note that on the first day you climb from about 2,000m to a 3,300 meter ridge then descend to the refuge at Tarkedit which is somewhat lower. Jamal and Moha picked us up in Marrakesh and dropped us off in Arrouss (about 2,000m altitude?) where we met our trekking guide Youssef and spent the night. Early next morning Youssef and the muleteer Ibrahima loaded up the mule and we walked up to Tarkeddit. The rest of the days followed the itinerary described by Atlastriptours. Youssef is from the High Atlas Mountains and knows them well. He is energetic, proactive, and cheerful and is a good cook. When one of us had trouble with the altitude, Youssef was quick to offer alternatives for the next day. He provided nutritious and tasty meals with lots of fresh veggies and protein. The snacks while walking were healthy and plentiful. Great trip.
