Highlights
  • High Atlas Mountains - Welcome to High Atlas Mountains to North Africa’s highest Mountain range, known by local Berbers as ‘Idraren Draren’ (Mountains of Mountains), and a trekker’s paradise from spring through to autumn. The High Atlas runs diagonally across Morocco for almost 1000km, encircling Marrakesh to the south and east from the Atlantic Coast just north of Agadir to Khenifra in the northeast. Its saw-toothed Jurassic peaks act as a weather barrier between the mild, Mediterranean climate to the north and the encroaching Sahara to the south. In its highest reaches, snow falls regularly from September to May, allowing for winter sports in Oukaimeden, while year-round rivers flow northwards towards Marrakesh creating a network of fertile valleys – the Zat, Ourika, Mizane and Ouirgane. Happiest of all are the secluded valleys of the central High Atlas, which include Zaouiat Ahansal, Ait Bougmez, Ait Bououli and Ait Blel. In the High Atlas the main language is the Berber.

Breathtaking & Life Changing Experience - Eye opening, breath taking and life changing! Hard to put into words what an experience this was. Our guide 'Samir' not only safely navigated us around the mountains he also took us into his mountain village home to meet his wife and children where they had prepared lunch and Moroccan tea, it was a true honour and moment I shall never forget. The mountain views are absolutely breathtaking and ofcourse so soon after the recent Marrakesh earthquake there are many damaged homes we seen which really brings home the reality of the power of nature and what the local people are coping with. I urge anyone booking this trip to tip Samir or your tour guide as it will really help them to feed their families and just a few pounds, dollars or euro's of our money is a significant help. I hope to one day return and if I do I'll return with some toys for the local children :)

amazing trip in the Atlas mountains - Samir and Mohammed were great guides! We were a group of 18 people and they made sure everyone felt comfortable and made it to the top. They guided the slow people by staying with them and also held the group together very well. The food on the mountain was surprisingly delicious. They also had a lovely family! Overall a great experience, highly recommend!

A Memorable Day - We had a very good day with Samir, our guide for the trek, and our driver whose name, unfortunately, I don't remember. Both of them were very friendly, helpful, and kind. We were sharing this adventure with a lovely family from Manchester and all the interaction between members of our group was pleasant and friendly. We stopped for photo opportunities on the way, and again for oil tasting at a women's cooperative, with tea, fresh local bread and the best peanut butter! The trek to the waterfall was not too difficult for two middle-aged ladies and Samir was there to help and lend a hand when needed. We had pleasant temperatures for walking and great views of the snow-capped Atlas mountains. Then a delicious lunch of home-cooked chicken tangine with tomato salad, and fresh fruit in the home of a local lady before leaving the mountainous area. Our driver took us to a desert area where we were served tea and assisted to don colorful head gear and tops. The men attending the camels helped us onto our animals and we took approximately 30 minutes to walk in a train on our camels, who appeared to be well-behaved and cared for. All in all, a memorable day with our very nice driver and guide, Samir!

Lovely stay in the mountains - We had a fantastic couple of days in the mountains. Our guide, samir was excellent. He was very informative and looked after us very well. He welcomed us into his house and his wife cooked us a lovely lunch. The walks were beautiful and interesting with lovely views, waterfalls and villages. I would recommend a trek with samir. We stayed in a great riad with the best food of our stay in Morocco. We were picked up and transported to the mountains and then onto essaouira. Excellent service, I highly recommend. We will definitely return with the rest of our family.

Hiking in the Atlas Mountains with a baby - We wanted a private tour as we were traveling with our 6 wmonths old son. This was a perfect choice, we spent an amazing day out in the mountains, very flexibly to meet our baby’s needs too. A kind, reliable driver drove us to Imlil; a friendly, well prepared guide showed us around, shared insights about the plants, people etc and at the end of our trip, a delicious home-made meal awaited us at a local’s house. The food was amazing, our best culinary experience in Morocco.

Great Day Out in the Mountains! - I can only recommend to do trips with Imlil Guide. Fortunate for me and my friend the other group that was planning the trip had to cancel shortly before leaving which left just the two of us. We got plenty of insides into the culture, history and the surrounding mountains and had a first hand look at the life of the Berbers. We were made sure that we felt welcomed at every step of the way. And the lunch! It was FANSTASTIC! The best food we had while staying in Marocco and all in the home of the guide. We can highly recommend the Imlil tour to anybody who wants to go! It's been an awesome trip! Beautiful day with lots of fun.

I’m not sure that this... - I’m not sure that this your company would have picked us up from our pre arranged destination if we hadn’t emailed and phoned them just prior to our pick up time. We were out on a tour that clearly wasn’t the one we had booked and after quests were taken for our lunch at a restaurant and trek in the Atlas Mountains. Our guide for our trek was outstanding which is why I give this tour four stars. We weren’t offered the camel ride on the way back which wasn’t a problem to us as we hadn’t wanted one, but as it’s an advertised part of the tour it might have been a problem for others.

Disappointed - I can only share disappointment with this booking. I booked two days earlier and in the late afternoon of the day before got a message from the tour company that due to a storm it would likely to be cancelled . They said they would confirm with me later at night and they never did . So I didn’t go to the tour, nor I booked another one so I got stuck in the city on my last day. Asked for refund to Viator who said they were not aware of the cancellation. Very strange. I am still waiting for refund, don’t know what else they need to investigate. I am very disappointed.
