Hardworking, friendly guides - Nassim and Abdulrahman were terrific guides. They put our safety first and dedicated themselves to a memorable experience in the mountains. Abdulrahman’s cooking was particularly noteworthy. His lamb tagine was the best we’ve had in Morocco. Nassim also took special care of my mother as she traversed the more narrow areas on the trail. The guesthouse owner at Tizi Oussem was friendly as well. We had a wonderful time. Some tips for other travelers: wear sun protection - the trails have minimal shade in some parts - and carry water (plentiful in the stores at the villages). Nassim was super kind to help me carry my water which is tough to do during a hike. There is also a mule who will carry your things. But do be efficient. The mule works very hard too.

What a beautiful Hike! - What a beautiful experience! we enjoyed the hike a lot. Ibrahim was a great guide and Hamid an excellent cook. Not to forget our great Muli carrying all of our stuff 😄 if you’re not the most experienced hiker wear hiking boots because there are a lot of gravel parts.

Amazing Atlas experience with the best guide - We had the best 2 day experience in the Atlas with our guide Houssain. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the area, funny, and supportive. The paths are very narrow and the drops very steep at times so bring proper hiking boots. Houssain was so helpful when my friend got a little anxious. Mohammad prepared absolutely delicious food for us which kept us energised. It was an unforgettable experience that we will never forget. Thanks so much Houssain and Mohammad.

Great experience! - This was a great experience, highly recommend! Our guide, Rashid, was extremely friendly, helpful, and funny and answered all of our questions and went out of his way to make our experience enjoyable. I would make sure to research the weather before you go - it was sunny T-shirt weather but is apparently normally snowy that time of year - and bring good walking shoes, as there are a couple of quite gravelly hills. The food was more than enough and very tasty - the nicest we’ve had in Morocco so far in fact! The muleteer and guide were super helpful, and we could take lots of breaks whenever we needed to. There was also lots of lovely mint tea and nuts and biscuits at every stop. The accommodation in the mountain village was very comfortable, private, and safe, but no frills. the highlight was a view of the brightest stars we’ve ever seen from the accommodation, as there was no light pollution. The walking was a tiny bit strenuous at times but definitely possible for anyone with an average level of fitness, and you can take lots of breaks. The other highlight was all the amazing views - I don’t think you would get these on a one-day trip. Would highly recommend this trip and ask for Rashid if you can! He grew up in a Berber village (and even taught us some Berber!) so it was great to have him show us around. The hiking wasn’t a full 2 days (we finished at around 2pm on the second day and had lunch served and were back in Marrakesh by 4pm) - but it was the perfect amount in the end. If you’re looking for a super strenuous hike across several days I would maybe do a 3-day trek or Mt Toubkal (Rashid also does this), but for a decent workout and amazing views and experience in 2 days, this was perfect.

One of our best experience in Morocco - We booked the two day atlas tour in january and were really lucky with the weather. Even though we booked spontaneously one day beforehand, everything was organised really well. Our guide was Nassim, who took good care of us. He was very empathetic so that we alwas felt safe and comfortable. Our meals were traditional and divers and our cook Mohammed was really nice. We are no experienced hikers so it was hard at some points, but we always felt safe and were rewarded with a great view and good Food.

A Fantastic experience- highly recommended - I booked this group trek months in advance but when it came to it I was the only person who confirmed so I was greatly appreciative that they did not cancel it or put me into another trip as I really wanted this one. Although the initial communication to confirm starting arrangements was hard due to incorrect phone no, after that everything went smoothly. The guide Nassim could not have been more helpful- very kind and concerned for my welfare with useful information and excellent English. The cook Mohamed produced copious delicious food. I was lucky with the weather and had stunning views, saw almost no other tourists and we walked for 5-6 ours each day.The overnight accommodation was very basic and really cold (January) but plentiful blankets provided. I thoroughly recommend this company who will not let you down,

A FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE IN MOROCCO! - A wonderful escape and challenging hike! We had a fantastic time hiking with Rachid! The first part was a bit tricky as we didn't know who was picking us up - but after a phone call to Astara Tours by our Riad, we got it sorted. If you try to phone Astara Tours from the Viator confirmation, the number is wrong, so just go to their website and you will find the correct number. We got to the village where we started our trek, had some mint tea and made it to our guesthouse by 1800 that evening. The guest house was extremely cold, but fortunately we were the only guests, so after many, many blankets piled on top of us, we warmed up a little bit. There was a hot shower at the guesthouse and this was a real treat! The best food we had on our entire week in Morocco was prepared by our cook/muleteer Hammid when we got to the first pass. DELICIOUS! Our guide Rachid was such a patient young man - we were on the slower side of hiking and he did not push us or rush us in any way. Rachid was knowledgeable, friendly and the perfect guide for this trek!

Rachid is a great guide through Atlas Mountains! - Overall we had a wonderful trip hiking the Atlas Mountains. Our tour guide, Rachid, was funny, caring and passionate about providing us an enjoyable experience. He would move at the pace of the group and let us decide if we wanted to take longer trek options by providing us distance and duration. The food our chef cooked was delicious and we had a sufficient number of stops along the way. I would recommend bringing several large bottles of water so you don’t get dehydrated. Extra water can be stored on the mule and accessible during lunch. The overnight accommodations are modest as to be expected for the location. Rachid provided plenty of historical information about the region. I highly recommend this tour group and Rachid as a guide!

Highlight of our trip to Morocco - We've just returned from a truly wonderful two day hike in the High Atlas mountains with our guide Mustafa and chef Mohammed (with Astara Tours). I would highly recommend asking for these two. The food cooked for us on mountainsides was delicious and Mustafa really looked after our family of four. We have an 8 and 10 year old who are experienced hikers - once he realised how fast the children walked, he adapted our route appropriately. I felt very safe with Mustafa at all times. The accommodation in the Berber village was lovely (very warm and cosy), where we met another friendly couple. Mustafa even took us to a traditional Berber house for mint tea, which was a real eye opener for the children. Fantastic hike (4 hrs day 1 and 3hrs on day 2) which felt off the beaten track. An absolute highlight of our trip. We'll be back with Mustafa to climb Toubkal next holiday! Thank you xxx
