Maximize your stay in the spectacular city of Cusco by exploring one of its most fascinating attractions, the awe-inspiring design of the experimental agricultural research hub, Moray. An unusual method of salt extraction in the Maras salt mines, consisting of over 100 salt wells, is also part of this adventure. Our journey begins with a pick up from your central Cusco hotel between 8:00 and 8:30 am, heading towards Moray. Here, you’ll marvel at circular terraces that the Incas ingeniously used to simulate various microclimates for cultivating diverse crops. Our path then leads us to the Maras salt mines. Nestled on a mountainside, offering captivating views of the landscape, these mines consist of hundreds of innovative pooling systems, fed by a saltwater stream. The local residents employ traditional techniques to gather salt. We conclude our tour by heading back to Cusco, estimating an arrival around 3:00 pm.
