Nagpatong Rock is composed of two striking limestone cliffs that stand opposing one another. These towers appear to be constructed from massive blocks of rock stacked upon each other, thus earning the name Nagpatong, derived from the Tagalog term ‘patong’, meaning ‘to place on top’. However, the process through which these rock formations came into being remains a mystery only nature can answer.
The flat-topped view of Nagpatong Rock is the most frequently captured shot, typically taken from the adjacent rock formation. To achieve this photograph, your guide will accompany you to the flat top and then guide you to the alternative rock formation for the perfect angle.
Nagpatong is truly a magnificent sight to behold, though it’s not recommended for those with a faint heart or an aversion to heights. Ascending to the pinnacle of the rock is a demanding task, involving bamboo ladders and sheer walls, hence should be undertaken at your own peril. Yet, the thrill is well worth the risk!
