Fun Trip - Great driver with extensive local knowledge. Good stops along the route to and from the caves. Need to be reasonably fit to access the caves.

Private Tour - We were not picked up in a jeep, but in a limousine. Perfect as there were two of us. I can highly recommend this service. It is easier and better to see all the sights. If you book 2 private tours you get a 25% discount

5 Star tour operator - First let me say that this tour company is amazing even though we didn’t do the tour. This was a last minute replacement for a different tour that was canceled by a different operator and I booked this tour from the wrong port. The driver called me right away when he couldn’t find me. That’s when we realized we were at two different places. I took full responsibility for the mixup and they still refunded my excursion even though they had no obligation to do so. Can’t wait to book with them again when we visit Crete next year.

Great half day tour - recommended - Excellent half day tour. Tony collected us from our hotel in a comfortable SUV. Tony was friendly, gave us some nuggets of information on the way and at each stop. He also answered any questions we had on the way. We first stopped at an olive oil factory. This was very interesting, you could taste the different types of olive oil and purchase some if you like but no obligation. Then to the top of mou Lorain with great views, saw a 3,000 year old tree, Monastery, zeus cave (worth a visit) then on way back showed us the resouvour for Heraklion which was at 15% level given the warm weather if late. We both really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it if you want a taste of just outside Heraklion!

This tour promised a... - This tour promised a scenic exploration of the Lasithi region, including a cave visit. While the natural beauty of the area is undeniable, the overall experience felt underwhelming, primarily due to a significant lack of guidance and an itinerary heavily weighted towards driving. Our driver was undoubtedly safe and careful, a reassuring quality given the narrow and winding mountain roads. However, her role as a guide was severely lacking. Throughout the entire four-hour duration, we received hardly any information about the places we were seeing or the region's history and culture. This absence of commentary left us feeling disconnected from the landscape we were traversing. The itinerary itself felt unbalanced. The majority of the time was spent driving, with the actual stops being incredibly brief. The "visit" to the Lasithi Plateau amounted to a mere one-minute photo opportunity from the side of the road. Similarly, the stop at the old plane tree was a fleeting five minutes. The highlight, or what should have been, was the visit to Skotino Cave. However, this too was disappointing. Our guide actively discouraged us from entering, and the allotted time was a mere fifteen minutes. Despite her reluctance, we chose to explore the cave briefly. It's important to note that Skotino Cave is not developed for tourism; there are no walkways, and accessible exploration is limited to less than 100 meters. While the natural formations were interesting, the rushed nature of the stop and the guide's discouraging attitude diminished the experience. While the views during the scenic drive were undeniably beautiful, the lack of context and the fleeting nature of the stops left us feeling like our day was largely wasted. We spent the majority of the tour in transit with minimal engagement or information provided. In conclusion, while the Lasithi region offers stunning scenery, this particular Viator tour falls short due to the absence of meaningful guidance and an itinerary that prioritizes driving over exploration. If you're looking for an in-depth experience with insightful commentary, this tour is likely not the right choice.
