Great Experience in Costa Maya with Toucan Tours - Had an amazing time with Toucan Tours during our Cruise trip a week ago! I was originally going to book a tour with The Native Choice but they ran out of space as I booked somewhat last minute a week before departing on our Cruise vacation. Fortunately, Toucan Tours had openings (booked on TripAdvisor).
Toucan Tours is an established local tour company based Costa Maya (approx 15-20 minute walk from the ship to their office right outside of port). Keep walking an look for the replica Mayan Temple - there office is right across from this.
Carlos was our driver and tour guide who drove my family of 5 in a spacious Toyota Van (10 seat capacity we had to ourselves). On the way to Chacchoben, he stopped by a local fruit vendor to pick up some sliced local Pineapple that was juicy, sweet and quickly devoured by the kids.
It was a sunny and warm day in Costa Maya (low to mid 80's) but were kept cool and hydrated with complimentary Mexican Coca Cola and Bottles of water.
At Chacchoben, we linked up with another "Carlos" from Toucan Tours, and guided our group of about 15 tourists around the site. He entertained us with fun stories, jokes and fun facts.
We then headed to a Beach Club at Bacalar Lagoon for lunch (delicious Shrimp and Chicken Tacos with Tropical Salsas and Tamarind Sauce!) and enjoyed Pina Coladas and Margeritas. We had the whole place to ourselves! Kids enjoyed jumping of the pier and using their Kayaks. Tip: bring water shoes as the bottom of the lagoon is a bit rocky.
Wished the day was longer as the kids wanted to keep playing in the emerald blue waters of the lagoon but we had to leave at 2:00 pm to make it back to port for our 3:30 ship departure.
Thanks Toucan Tours (and our Driver / Tour Guide Carlos) for an incredible day in Costa Maya. We felt safe, and well taken care of! I've done many third party excursions over 5 cruises and Toucan is an established first rate company! 5 out of 5 stars!

Very nice. - They take you to get food, for us it was a taco place. After you eat, you get on a boat and look at the scenery before they take you through the lagoon. The destination is a shallow part of the water and you can swim around. They had a watermelon and pineapple to prepare and serve to you. Tequila and beer too, at no extra cost. Tour guide Adan has very good English and a lot of stories. Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures personally, although my group did.

Great time with Toucan Tours! - Great experience! Our guide at rge Ruins was knowledgeable and fun! Our driver,Carlos was the best-he took great care of us. Lunch at the Lagoon was awesome too.

Guide was great but the tour didn't allow for much time other than a lot of driving - Don't book both together. The ruins tours was rushes and we didn't get to see a lot of it to keep the schedule on time. The lagoon was mediocre at best. Nothing at all like a beach excursion.

Chachoban Mayan ruin and Seven Colors Lagoon tour - We got lucky and have Marcella driving us four around all day in her SUV. Marcella is super nice and pleasant. She is a good driver and her car is spotless. We spend an hour at Chachoban with Carlos as our tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about the Mayans. Then we drove to a hotel/restaurant by the seven colors lagoon. We are fed a good lunch and two drinks (soft drinks or beer). They had a few kayaks and swings on the lagoon. Lagoon is great to swim in. Next time maybe we will do a boat tour of the lagoon.

Not recommended - I don't recommend them. The first part, the visit to the ruins, was interesting, but the excursion to the Lagoon of 7 colors and lunch were disappointing. Lunch takes place in a hostel with poor quality food and the location, overlooking the sea, is really unpleasant.
