A trip through history and wonderful service at the Ibiza Sunset Bar. A wonderful day - The size of the tour of 10 people was great, and our guide Elise Estrada made all the difference with all his information on the way and at the ruins and also his great manner of making everything enjoyable due to his sense of humour.

The Best!! This is the tour you need to take! - So visiting Mexico for the first time was a little scary for me at least. With so many other reviews I wasn’t sure what to expect. BUT... we booked this tour online and it was the best decision I’ve ever made!! We followed the directions out of the port and to the area where they said they would meet us. We didn’t walk quite far enough so I called the number to ask and Karla answered and led us to the office. That was a relief and we checked in just fine. We waited for other participants to arrive and then boarded an air conditioned van with Brian and Jesus- our guide and driver. They were so sweet and helpful. Had the cooler stocked with iced down waters and sodas for the trip. Brian shared some local gum and lots of great information about the area as we drove to the site. The trip took maybe 45 minutes at most. When we arrived there was a shop with clean restrooms/ snacks and local made treasures. Everyone was so great. The tour was fantastic. We learned a lot and took so many pictures. There were 2 sites of ruins. It took a bit to go through them. Climbing the the steps was not too rough. And the sites were breathtaking. Brian knew so much even at such a young age of 19!! He was great to listen to and could answer our questions with ease. We smelled pepper plants and chewed on the leaves - it does make you numb. Some even found pieces of pottery they were able to carve out of the ground. The trip back was faster it seemed. And we opted for the Ibiza sunset beach break. Gisela met us with Brian and they guided us to the beach tables. It was like a postcard. Gorgeous view. The food and service was wonderful. We had fajitas and pico. It was delicious!! The local beer was perfect for me and I had at least 4-5. My husband opted for tequila sunrises. After lunch we laid in the water and my husband snorkeled around the sea grass. There were beach massages to relax even more!! There were some vendors that went by with their stuff to sell. No one was pushy or rude at all. This was a great tour. We were sad to have to leave and go back to the ship!!

Skip the second part, but go to the ruins - It was nice to have this tour booked before we got to the cruise port. Easy to get to and good communication. Chaccoban ruins were very fascinating and our guide Carlos was very knowledgeable. Even stopped in a Mayan village and young ladies got on bus to sell fresh pineapple and mango for $2. But once that part was over things got a bit hairy. Not everyone on the bus has the same schedule. They got us to chilanga beach club but then they left us….we had to get a cab back to boat. $5/person. There really wasn’t much time to enjoy the meal. But it was yummy and mahalhual fishing village was neat to see and a good cultural experience. But the beach was gross. No sand, seaweed and garbage, etc. I was hoping for sun and swim but not here! Wish I would have stayed on bus since they did an unexpected 1 hour beach stop and could’ve ate back on boat for less $.

Great combo tour - Highly recommend this combo. Mayan ruins are interesting and worth visit (pick just one ruin). Once done, we headed to the Ibiza beach for some food and drinks. Water was too cold for swimming. The guide and driver were very nice

Not as described - Not as expected The lady was kind but Directions to locate driver were not at all accurate. Wasted 45 minutes trying to locate. Some local at the port took us to three different places trying to find ours. Finally found them waited another 20 mins for driver to show up. Found out it would be well over 2 hours driving so we asked to exchange it for different experience since we’d already lost over an hour searching and waiting. Snorkeling is NOT included. The “equipment” in the description was a flimsy eye cover that didn’t cover the nose and broke immediately. There was only one for the three of us to use. Had to buy our own equipment at nearby store. Paid $100 to snorkel. Service and beach were great.

Ruins were fun but the "beach club" is a tragedy! - So, the ruins and tour there was good. However, when that ended we were placed on a shuttle back to the port or to the "beach club." I wish we had gotten off at the port but we figured we paid for lunch and tacos in Mexico should be awesome! Nope. The "beach club" was terrible! I wouldn't put mu worst enemy into that water and the seating/dining area was nasty. The chairs were wood and had zero padding. It took forever to get food/drinks and by the time we got done with lunch I needed some meds for the backpain. As for the food, the steak in the tacos was ok but the chicken was shoe leather. The drinks were meh. The most annoying part was you couldn't even talk to the person sitting next to you because of all the people trying to sell you the junk they were hawking. In the 45 mins we were there we had to have at lease 30 people come by and try to sell us knockoff sunglasses, handbags, bracelets, etc. I recommend the ruins but don't go to the "beach club!" I felt lucky my family and I got out without getting sick or knocked over the head!

Disappointed - We recently booked this excursion when our cruise came to Costa Maya. Looked forward to this excursion per the positive reviews. Unfortunately that was not the case for our trip. I wish I had the positive experience that some experienced. Communication about where to meet was clear and our driver was friendly but did not speak a word of English. Four adults were put into a compact car. The backseat was so tight we couldn’t reach to buckle our seatbelts. We did not have a driver and guide. We simply had a non-speaking driver. It was a long quiet ride. Upon arrival at the ruins we were told there was no guide included and we had to pay an additional 8$ pp. An unexpected expense but worth it as the ruins are not as filled with information and signs as some more popular ruins. Would have felt fairly clueless without a guide. She was a lovely girl. The ruins are rustic and impressive. We were then driven to the “beach club”. The beach was shallow and murky and fenced off -As if they were trying to keep something out of the swimming area? Their chaises are made out of pallets with stained cushions. Upon 5 minutes of arrival it started to pour. We were escorted into the tiny “restaurant“ with 20 other people where it continued to pour and leak. They scrambled to try and make us a table upstairs to have our lunch. I want to say that the owner and wait staff at the place were so nice and tried to be accommodating 👍 I actually feel bad crapping on their establishment but it was crappy 🤷‍♀️ The roof is dripping on us, stray cats were eating food off of other patrons plates when they went to the bathroom. And the bathroom....Down a little alley. It was leaking heavily, all the toilet paper was soaked and-it looked like the toilet hadn’t flushed in about three days ..... thanks I’ll hold it. And I’ll pass on the free fish tacos.... My friends ate their lunch and said it was decent and nobody got sick. I just couldn’t do it. We hopped a taxi back to the cruise ship ASAP. I feel we basically paid $80 per person for a taxi ride and admission to ruins. No tour or talk of culture on the ride there, no bottled waters etc as others stated. no guided tour included & beach resort is a stretch of the imagination for sure. I travel a lot and I’m not a hard to please person and if I hadn’t read reviews stating such I might not have expected more. Just my two cents 👎

Excursion cancelled - Our trip was canceled at the last minute. We were told that the taxi drivers were on strike. Having such late notice did not leave us time to book another excursion. This was very disappointing but apparently not something that could be fixed. We are now hoping a refund from Viator will be be given.
