On this tour, your guide will introduce you to the different artistic movements showcased here, including abstractionism, cubism, surrealism, and modernism. You’ll come face to face with works by the iconic Pablo Picasso, including his world-changing painting, “Guernica.” You’ll browse works by Joan Miró, like “The Man with a Pipe,” and Salvador Dali’s “Face of the Great Masturbator,” learning about the techniques and strategies they used to create their oftentimes quirky works of art. You’ll discover all about the social and political movements that shaped these artists and their work, including the Spanish Civil War. Art brought to life by Marta! - Carolynn Extremely easy booking with Viator! Very communicative, which was appreciated. Our guide Marta completely changed the way we look at art forever! The reason we decided to book a guided tour was that we enjoy visiting museums however ~ what am I looking at? What is it saying? What is the significance of this piece at the time? … And so many more questions go unanswered. Marta provided details and the history throughout the museum in chronological order that completely changed the way we look at art forever. Her enthusiasm and the way her face & eyes would light up made it obvious that art & history are a passion verses a ‘job’. We felt very fortunate to have her as our guide. Thoroughly enjoy our time and highly recommend. While the tour is 2.5 hours you can stay afterwards as long as you like. Meeting point was super easy to find. Greta job Babylon Tours/Viator Thank you!! Carolynn

Reina Sofia and the Magic of art. - Anna was our guide and led us threw the museum skillfully using a narrative to explain the paintings and the history of Spain and Spanish art . The smallest details of the artists experiences brought to life vividly. Building like a great story toward a climax and ending with the masterpiece Guernica. Anna answered every question, was patient with my kid and had a magical wonder about all the works she showed us. Not to be missed.

2.5- hour by an intelligent, educated insider— highliht of our trip to Spain - Our guide knew her stuff and had a well planned tour of the museum for us. She made great use of the time and moved us along from peace to peace telling us just enough to make it worth having an expert along but not dwelling too long on each one. We ended with Guernica. Of course, the crowds in front of this Picasso masterpiece were large. But we were pleasantly surprised that the museum was not extremely crowded overall, particularly compared to arisen to the Prado the day before. I recognize not everyone can afford a guided tour, but if you’re splurging on just one or two, this would be one I would recommend. It was billed as a semi-private tour, but in fact was only my husband and I.
