Highlights

This tour will let you learn everything about those centuries in which Spain wasn’t only the Empire where the Sun never set, but a cradle of literary geniuses and internationally renowned painters.

Beginning at Plaza Mayor, the center of life in ancient Madrid, former home to markets, bullfighting and the terrifying trials of the Spanish Inquisition, you will easily glide on our comfortable e-bike to the Literary Quarter or Barrio de las Letras, the neighbourhood where some of the greatest writers and poets lived, thrived and rivaled, such as Miguel de Cervantes and Lope de Vega.

Riding down the famous Huertas Street, you will find yourself facing the Prado Museum, the wealthiest collection of Spanish art, one of the three museums along Madrid’s Art Walk with Reina Sofia Museum and Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

Before entering Retiro Park you will have the chance to marvel at the beautiful Jerónimos Church, linked to the Spanish royalty since its construction in the 16th century.

Once inside this ancient royal park, you will awe at its main attractions, such as the constantly photographed pond, the inspiring games light plays through the Crystal Palace or the famous statue of the Fallen Angel.

You will get to understand why locals spend their free time in this park where you can fully enjoy riding your e-bike before going back to the city centre along other iconic places in Madrid such as the the Alcalá Gate, Cibeles Square and Puerta del Sol.

A incredible opportunity to really see not only Parque de El Retiro but the city as a whole! - This was a tour we were really looking forward to and it did not disappoint! You truly get to experience not only the beauty of Parque de El Retiro but the magic of the city. Our tour guide, Javier was the BEST!! He was incredibly knowledgeable, very friendly, and always attentive to us and our safety. He was very detailed oriented and really gave us so much background information and history on things we would have never learned on our own. Thank you Javier for making this tour for our family so very special and helping us fall even more in love with Madrid!

Not Recommended - The bike tour with Wonder Tours was disappointing. The description on Trip Advisor isn't reflective of the actual experience. I received a voicemail to cancel on the day because there wasn't a guide to take us out, but arrangements were changed to have a Segway guide go out. I wouldn't describe it as a bike tour as there was limited biking, mostly stopping often with story telling/history. Bikes did not seem to be in top condition. We enjoyed a self guided tour earlier in the day in Parque del Retiro with excellent e-bike rentals from Rent & Roll.

Rent an ebike & ride through the park yourself - Definitely not the tour we thought we signed up for! We wanted a tour of the park. Instead, 2/3 of our time was spent stopping at various city landmarks that we’ve already seen. The bikes are awkward with the most uncomfortable seats imaginable. And, finally, there are way too many people booked on this tour (15 or so) to be navigating through the streets, when riders have various bike skills. We would have been better off renting e-bikes and riding through the park ourselves.

It was one of the worst tours I have had - I have emailed my experience. It is too long to write it in here. But do you allow your guides to get high on the trip?

DO NOT BOOK if you want to take children or are shorter than 5 foot 3 - We have done bike tours in pretty well every country we have visited, from Europe to the USA to China (we did one in London (again) just last week). I am not tall (5 feet 3) but I have never, ever booked a bike tour where they did not have a bike that fitted me safely. The company not only made NO effort to find a bike to fit me (I was told all the bikes were a size 'medium'), but to add insult to injury, they then refused to reimburse the money we had paid because we could not do the tour safely. Safety should be a primary concern for a bike tour company - it clearly wasn't for this one. Without doubt, the worst service I have ever experienced with a bike tour company. Be warned!
