Best tour guide ever! - My friends and I only had a couple of days in Madrid and we thought that 3 cities in one day would be a bit to hectic. Well, I was wrong. It is indeed a highly intense visit, but our guide Marta didn’t miss a second. We left Toledo with goosebumps after listening to hundreds of centuries of history. In Segovia, we took the nicest walk ever from the Acueducto to thw Alcazar, and it felt like a fairytale!! Avila was also beautiful, but the highlight was definitely the restaurant that Marta recommended. We definitely loved the excursion, thank you Marta!!

Great tour - The tour was great, our guide was really patient and well prepared!! He was really flexible and the explanations were very interesting. We lived Toledo and Segovia. However, the food at the place we went for lunch was not very good. The view from the restaurant was great but we were expecting the food to be better.

Interesting sites - Lot of driving but saw some neat sites. Not enough time for food . Early start meant we didn’t get breakfast and no stop at bakery or coffee shop to fix that. Think it would be better to just focus on one place like Toledo. Our guide was good and had to switch between English and Spanish to accommodate group. Should offer just in English as well. Lunch was tasty although menu was in Spanish and waiters didn’t speak English. We figured it out mostly so we were ok.

Too much too little - Our guide was a lovely knowledgeable man but English was not great. Too much bus time not enough time in Toledo at all. The restaurant in Avila we were sheparded in was just awful and we should have been told meet in an hour and there were many choices we did not have. It was depressing and we were not happy. Overall a nice trip but not our favorite.

Mixed Feelings - A long day but we knew that. It was a total of 5.5 hrs on the road. We were a nice small group of 8. Our tour operator was pleasant and a great driver. Toledo was an excellent place to visit (one hour away). The downside was our tour operator bringing us to a souvenir shop to spend “15” minutes which turned out to be 45 min for those interested in the merchandise. This was a deliberate money-making stop which I read about in reviews. My feeling is shopping should be done on free time… Our tour operator did not offer much information and when he did it was basic. Next stop was Avila (a 2 hr drive from Toledo for nothing). We sat in a tourist trap of a restaurant (the only one around) and pre-planned by our tour guide and directly across the street from the famous “wall” of the city. The food was not good quality and a reasonably priced “pre-fixed” menu was waiting for us at our place setting. For example 5 of the 8 in our group ordered the ice cream for dessert and it arrived as a paper wrapped ice cream cone that you would get from a good humor truck! That was the “Avila” trip!! Don’t bother with this stop please!! Next was Segovia (one hour from Avila) which was a pretty town and again our tour guide did not offer much information. When it came time to enter the “Alcazar” castle we were on our own?!? Our guide did not accompany us!!! We would have liked to know what we were looking at!! That is the role of a tour guide. Thank goodness we were in the presence of a wonderful group of people who all shared their knowledge of our whereabouts. I would stick with just Toledo and Segovia if I had to do it all over! The sites were fantastic.
