Embark on an hour-long journey on foot through the scenic town of Machias, Maine. Nestled on the banks of the Machias River, this quaint coastal town possesses an enriching history, dating back to the inaugural naval battle of the Revolutionary War. Our walking tour will take you through the town center, where you’ll have ample chances for photography and queries. Our seasoned tour guide, a native and a skilled historian, will lead the tour. This hour-long exploration covers majority flat terrains and includes stops to narrate gripping stories from the olden times. Besides the Revolutionary War, the tour will drop by an ancient train station and delve into how its existence transformed the locale. Moreover, a tour of Downeast Maine won’t be complete without touching upon the famous lobster fishing sector, thus attendees will gain insights into the history of this trade and also other significant local fisheries.
