Used as a burial site for over 500 years, from the 16th to 11th centuries BC, it is now a popular tourist destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It is considered one of Egypt’s most beautiful monuments and a highly visited site in Luxor. The temple features three terraces connected by ramps and surrounded by a high wall. The first terrace has a colonnade with Hathor-headed columns, the second terrace contains chapels dedicated to various deities, and the third terrace houses a large sanctuary dedicated to Amun-Re, adorned with reliefs depicting Hatshepsut’s divine birth and lineage.

Located in the Theban Necropolis on Luxor’s west bank, the statues are made from quartzite sandstone and stand about 18 meters (60 feet) tall. They depict Amenhotep III seated on a throne with his hands on his knees.
