The falcon form of this deity was placed in tombs to accompany and protect the deceased on their journey to the West of Luxor. Tomb 8, located in the Valley of the Kings, was the burial site of Pharaoh Merneptah, son of Ramesses II and Queen Isis-Nofret. Discovered by Howard Carter in 1903, this tomb features fewer lateral rooms but significantly taller corridors and chambers. Merneptah abandoned the jogged axis design used since Horemheb’s time, opting for a single-axis layout with a notably wider entrance.

Unique to this tomb are the secular scenes in the small side rooms of the entrance corridor, showcasing foreign tributes, detailed pottery from the Aegean, the royal armory, boats, and blind harpists, earning it the nickname ‘Tomb of the Harpers.’

To express his love, King Ramses built her the most beautifully decorated and splendid tomb in the Valley of the Queens. Afterwards, you’ll visit the Colossi of Memnon, the two largest ancient statues in Egypt, dating back to the era of King Amenhotep III, father of King Akhenaten and grandfather of King Tut. • Tomb of Ramesses IX - The Tomb of King Ramesses IX, the third pharaoh of the Twentieth Dynasty of the New Kingdom of Ancient Egypt, was originally named Amonhirkhopshef. He was the fifth son of Ramesses III and was appointed crown prince in the twenty-second year of his father’s reign after the death of his four elder brothers.

The tomb is richly decorated, with vibrant colors and intricate details, including a ceiling mural of the goddess Nut stretching across the space. The sarcophagus is one of the largest in the valley, and despite some deterioration, the tomb remains one of the most elaborately adorned.
