Highlights
  • Khor Virap - Khor Virap
an Armenian monastery established in 642, is known in Armenian as
deep hole. As a sacred site of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Khor Virap serves as a pilgrimage destination. Notably, it stands on the grounds of a former royal dungeon where Gregory the Illuminator, the patron saint and inaugural head of the Armenian Apostolic Church, was confined by the Armenian monarch for over a decade. The monastery’s location offers a unique vantage point of the storied Mount Ararat.
  • Areni Wine Factory - Areni is recognized as the cradle of wine production. The practice of grape cultivation in Armenia dates back to ancient times, well before the common era. The region is home to numerous indigenous grapevines and a variety of local grape species. Areni also boasts Armenia’s oldest winery, where visitors can sample exquisite wines made from premium grape varieties.
  • T’rchuneri (Bird) Cave - Also known as Areni Cave or Bird Cave, this site is perched 30 meters above the Gnishik tributary of the Arpa River. Carved into the cliff, it features a series of interconnected chambers accessible through narrow passageways. The cave’s accessibility makes it a popular destination even during Armenian holidays. Since 2007, it has been the focus of archaeological excavations that have unearthed artifacts dating from 4200-3500 BC, including pottery, plant remains, apricot and grape seeds, reed baskets, fragments of fabric, women’s jewelry, and more. Remarkably, the world’s oldest winery, dating back 5,000-5,500 years, was discovered within the cave. In addition, the world’s oldest known shoe, stuffed with grass to maintain its shape, was found here, with laboratory analysis dating it to 5637-5387 years old.
  • Tatev Monastery - The Tatev Monastery is a gem of medieval Armenian architecture. Situated in the Syunik province of southern Armenia, 315 km from Yerevan and 30 km from Goris, it stands on the right bank of the Vorotan River, near the eponymous village of Tatev. Constructed between the 9th and 13th centuries, the monastery is dedicated to St. Eustathius, a disciple of Apostle Thaddeus who, like his mentor, spread the Christian faith and was martyred for it.
  • Noravank Monastery - Nestled among stunning red cliffs in a winding gorge, the Noravank Monastery was established in the 12th century atop earlier structures. The Noravank complex, with its breathtaking medieval architecture and picturesque setting, creates a lasting impression. It stands as one of the grand monuments of Armenian medieval architecture.

Tatev and Noravenk - solo trip - December 2023 - Pls don’t miss Tatev - the drive from Yerevan to Tatev is really amazing - we pass thru two beautiful mountains, covered fully with snow. It’s a long drive, abt 4 hrs from Yerevan- so start early, by 8am atleast Pls plan your drive back to Yerevan - it gets dark by 6 pm and if the weather is extreme they close the roads in the mountain - I got stuck near the mountain peak - our vehicle was waiting for more than an hour, then I had to stay the night in the mountain (in a motel in nearby village) - Unplanned but the experience was out of the world Tatev rope car was good as well (but the drive to Tatev >>> Tatev) Noravenk monastery was beautiful, placed amidst beautiful mountains - the view and experience was amazing Ara and Lilit from Jan Armenia were really helpful, especially when I got stuck in the mountains. They supported extremely well - Thanks !

Amazed - The best thing you can do whenever in Armenia, I traveled with my daughter and her friends, Armenia is a place worth seeing, but we would not have felt so comfortable if we didn't find Jan support. If I am not mistaken they also ara a TIC in Armenia, however Im not sure about it. But the servicec with tours is something very excellent. We have taken 3 tours with them, one city tour in Yerevan(walking), tour to Noravank and Tatev (cable car also) and transfwr to the airport. My daughter doesnt like long roads (but me and her friends do) but surprisingly the best thing about these trips were that she didn't even feel uncomfortable or bad. Thank you so much for these trips ❤️❤️❤️

Cozy and accommodating - Our recent trip to Armenia was superb! Our tour guide, Lilit and driver, Greggory are very accommodating. The car provided for the private tour is very cozy. What I love most about their service is that they prioritize our comfort and they let us spend time to enjoy our trip. They made our holiday vacation worthwhile.

I would blindly recommend this company to anyone visiting Armenia! - Jan Armenia organized for us several trips in Armenia. For example, they organized our full day trip to Noravank, Khor Virap and Tatev monastery was one of the best experiences I've ever had as a traveler. The guide was Anahit, an amazing girl, doing PhD in history, she taught us so many things about Armenia, the sites we were visiting and general world history. It was great to spend the day with her. The car and driver was first class, everything exceeded our expectations, I would blindly recommend this company to anyone visiting Armenia.
