  • Khor Virap - Khor Virap is the most famous pilgrimage site in Armenia, as it is directly connected with the adoption of Christianity. As a state religion Christianity in Armenia was adopted in 301 due to endeavors of Saint Gregory the Illuminator, who before converting king Trdat the 3rd to Christianity, was imprisoned in the dungeon over which a church of Khor Virap monastery was built in the 17th century. From the monastery one can admire the stunning view of the Biblical Mount Ararat.

Embark on a tour lasting 11-12 hours beginning with a visit to the Khor Virap monastery, the site closest to the Biblical Mount Ararat within Armenian territory. It offers some of the most stunning vistas of the mountain. Following this, explore the unique Noravank monastery complex, which stands out due to the Church of Holy Mother of God, the only two-storied monastery in Armenia. The tour continues to Jermuk, a spa town encircled by natural beauty, renowned for its Mineral Water Gallery where visitors can sample spring water of various temperatures and enjoy beautiful waterfalls. The tour culminates in Areni, one of the most ancient settlements in Armenia where remnants of 6,000-year-old grapes were discovered. Today, Areni is renowned for its wine production.

Total scam - The tour operator did not show up. When contacting them while waiting at the meeting point, we were informed that the tour got cancelled, and instead offered an private tour at an unreasonable price. It felt like a scam and I would not recommend this tour operator.
