Lunenburg:

Originally established in 1753 by settlers from Germany, Switzerland, and France, Lunenburg is renowned for its picturesque waterfront, thriving fishing industry, expert shipbuilding, and distinctive architecture.

Lunenburg has been the birthplace of numerous wooden sailing ships, including the celebrated Bluenose, launched in 1921. This fishing schooner not only excelled in its trade but also became an iconic racing vessel, now immortalized on the Canadian ten-cent coin.

The ‘Old Town’ district of Lunenburg stands as a quintessential representation of British colonial establishment in North America. Its historical structures and residences stretch back to the 1760s. In recognition of its cultural significance, the ‘Old Town’ was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995, one of only 12 such sites in Canada out of a global total of 469. The ‘Old Town’ boasts approximately four hundred historic edifices.

We loved this whole day... - We loved this whole day which was thoughtfully planned. A good balance between drive & walkabouts to give you the best of these two towns. We also appreciated the information that Bruce shared throughout the tour, and his keen eye for helping us take the perfect pictures.

Glimpse of Lunenburg - Scenic ride to Lunenburg, stopping across from the town to get an overall view of the town and detailed views of the many buildings and homes that make up this UNESCO town. We enjoyed the lunch at one of the many restaurants. We took a different route going back to the highway to include a brief visit to Oak Island and the stories that goes with the television show set on the island.

Satisfied Customers! - Bruce was a fantastic tour guide who is very knowledgable and took the time to find great photo opportunities for the three of us. This is our second tour with Bruce and he is always on time, has a neat and tidy vehicle, and delivers what is promised. I highly recommend booking him for future tours in Nova Scotia.
