- Peter’s Chapel - As the tour starts you hear the fire horn followed by the invocation pray. The Nightwatchman tells you about his hard life in the middle age. With the help of a projector he introduces you to medieval Lucerne. You have a detailed look into the Martini plan, the first city map of Lucerne, dating from 1597. You see the route on the map and you will discover that many of the buildings on the map are still here today. You see St. Peter’s Chapel, the first church in town dating back to the 12th century. Next to it you see the first private stone house of Lucerne and you find out where the expression “stone rich” comes from.

Embark on a journey through medieval Lucerne with your personal guide on a Nightwatchman walking tour. Gain insights into the historical roles of the Nightwatchman while visiting the beautifully lit landmarks. You’ll listen to the tale of the Riot of Lucerne, and hear about spectres, devils and sorceresses. Think about what life was like in Lucerne during the medieval period and learn about the prevalent law enforcement. Your private Nightwatchman guide is attired in period costume and carrying a traditional Swiss halberd. You will be led through the labyrinthine lanes and secluded spots of Lucerne’s historic heart. The tour includes visuals shared through a projector, iPad and postcards.

Fantastic! - What a wonderful tour with Mr. Rolf. He takes effort and enthusiastically narrates fascinating tales of medieval Lucerne dressed as a medical nightwatchman with a few props and a projector too.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and would highly recommend it for anyone interested in a cultural treat!

History lesson with a beautiful walk. - Very nice tour of Luzerne.
Great history lesson as well as beautiful walk in the historic part of the city.
We were with our college aged year old kids and it was interesting and fun for all.

Fun authentic tour! - Such a fabulous tour! My husband and I did the walking tour and we loved it! Our tour guide was so much fun. He was in costume and did a fabulous presentation with a few props and really got into character! It was really fun walking around the city at night. He pointed out things that we never would have seen on our own. He knew the history and he was very passionate about sharing information about his city! We would highly recommend!

Excellent history tour - We loved the tour. He provided lots of history about Lucerne and his English was excellent. He pointed out things I wouldn’t have noticed otherwise, like the guild symbols around town. Highly recommend!

An amazing visit to Luzern’s past - From the moment that we met our guide, Ralph the Night Watchman, we were transported into the incredible past world of historical Luzern. We had the most wonderful time and Ralph was a friendly and informative host. We learned so much and had a lot of fun, and the time flew by so quickly. We highly recommend that any visitors to Luzern consider taking this tour.

Great way to learn about Lucerne! - My husband friends and I did this tour in early May and Ralf was a wonderful story teller and made the evening interesting and enjoyable teaching us about Lucerne and it's history while walking the streets.

Rolf was amazing. It was a drizzly... - <p>Rolf was amazing. It was a drizzly evening but it didn't detract from his ability to take us back in time. He pointed out the historic buildings and explained the significance of murals, unique characteristics of buildings, historical details, putting details into perspective. Earlier in the day we had rambled through the Old Town but we had missed so many details. He used a projector to highlight aspects of history and art.. He also gave suggestions of some non tourist places to eat that would be less expensive. Great tour.</p>

He provided humorous details as well as recommendations for other things to see,,, the night walk added a perfect amount of mystery to the tour...another must do especially for history buffs!!!</p>
