Embark on a self-guided tour to Mount Rigi from Lucerne, entailing a round-trip boat trip, a cogwheel train ride, and a journey on an aerial cable car for a thrilling Swiss Alps experience. Sail on the breathtaking Lake Lucerne, then ascend Rigi Kulm, often dubbed as the ‘Queen of the Mountains,’ for panoramic views over the Bernese Alps, Vosges Mountains and the Black Forest. From there, take a cable car ride down to the picturesque lakeside town of Weggis, before closing the trip with a return boat cruise back to Lucerne. Thanks to prudently pre-booked tickets and a detailed schedule, you can relish the awe-inspiring Alps at your own leisure.
Please be aware: From 6th March to 21st April 2023, the cable car service from Rigi Kaltbad to Weggis will be unavailable due to maintenance. In the meantime, travel via Vitznau is possible both ways.

View was amazing!! - The view from the top of Mt. Rigi, the cog train ride, and the cable car ride. We were able to spend as much time as we wanted at different stops because there wasn’t a guide/group we had to stay with.

Amazing! - Such an amazing experience! This is tickets for the boat ride over and the train ride up the mountain. Just download the timetables yourself for the Lucerne boat and your all set! There was snow at the top of the mountain!

Great experience start to finish. - The tour was extremely easy to navigate. The instructions were clear and every member of staff we came across were beyond helpful.
We were out from 8:30 and returned at 13:00 having completed the lake cruise, cog train and cable cars. The views from the summit of Rigi were incredible despite some mist and the cable car experience returning to Weggis was the highlight of the experience. Highly recommend as a day trip to experience the beautiful scenery.

Nice Experience; Avoid cable car - The boat ride and cog wheel train were very fun and the weather cooperated. Mount Rigi was beautiful and worth the experience. However, the cable car ride down to Weser was a total bust. Packed in standing room only with no seating was horrible and hot. That was a Covid/germ incubator. Don’t recommend cable car; train both ways to and from the top.

Snow - Excellent experience. A lot for an independent tour thought. A bit more information on the departure locations would have been helpful. Unfortunately, the Alps was fogged in on the day, but plenty of snow!

So glad we did this tour- easy to navigate and something not to be missed - We absolutely loved this tour. The boat across the lake was spectacular with views for miles.
The workers on top of Mt.. Rigi were knowledgeable and helpful with views not to be missed.
The only drawback was that the cable car ride had been cancelled a year ago (according to the shopkeeper at the top of Mt. Rigi) and showed me the information that the cable car had been inoperative for a year!
It seems like Viator should have had this information ahead of time but I did contact Viator's customer service for a partial refund and will hopefully get a positive outcome

Price per floor - Convenient, quiet, quick journey. However, there are a lot of people. Please note: it is not indicated but the floor concerns first classes only. Many of us on the boat did not know this, we had not seen any indication. During the journey, we were asked to pay a supplement to be able to stay upstairs, there were many of us in this case The supplement is not very expensive and there are much fewer people upstairs than downstairs and there is a beautiful view.
In Vitznau, the stop is right next to the train station to go up to Mount Rigi.
In Weggis, it's about a 5-minute walk from the Rigi cable car to the boat stop.

No details given by Viator - Viator doesn’t give any details as to what route to take or anything. You have to figure out everything yourself. No point in getting the tickets though Viator. You can go on your own instead.
