We’ll kick off the day visiting Wat Aham & Wat Visoun, the ancient temples of the city. The watermelon-shaped That Mak Mo, established in 1504, was renovated by Henri Mouhot, renowned for his restoration efforts in Angkor. The old city rests on a peninsula nestled between the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, hosting numerous ancient temples.
Certainly, the exquisite Wat Xieng Thong located at the top end of the peninsula is not to be missed.
As you traverse from one temple to another, you have the opportunity to observe the natives leading their everyday lives.
In the afternoon, our journey continues through the city’s narrow lanes featuring a blend of colonial houses and lush areas enriched with palm trees. Before the day ends, you have the option to ascend Mount Phousi to bask in the glorious sunset.
