A Journey to the Stars

Our adventure began with a seamless pickup from our hotel in Los Cristianos. As a mother of three, I always appreciate when logistics are handled smoothly, and this was no exception. The friendly message from Kieran in the morning set the tone for a stress-free day. Craig, our guide, greeted us with a warm smile and an infectious enthusiasm that immediately put everyone at ease. As we settled into the comfortable coach, Craig began sharing fascinating tidbits about Tenerife, its volcanic history, and the unique flora and fauna that call this island home.

The drive up to Teide National Park was filled with awe-inspiring views and engaging stories. Craig’s knowledge of the terrain and its history was impressive, and he had a knack for making the information accessible and interesting for all ages. My kids were particularly fascinated by the tales of ancient volcanic eruptions and the formation of the island. It was a perfect blend of education and entertainment, something I always strive to find in our family travels.

Sunset Above the Clouds

Our first stop was Montaña Sámara, where we were treated to a breathtaking sunset high above the Sea of Clouds. The sky was a canvas of vibrant colors, and the view was nothing short of magical. As we sipped on our complimentary glasses of cava, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder and gratitude for this moment. The kids opted for orange juice, and we all toasted to the beauty of nature and the joy of being together.

The atmosphere was serene, and the experience was enhanced by the knowledgeable guides who shared stories of the landscape and its significance. It was a moment of connection, not just with the natural world, but with each other. Watching the sun dip below the horizon, I felt a profound sense of peace and contentment.

Stargazing Under the Clearest Skies

After the sunset, we continued our journey deeper into the park to Restaurante 7 Cañadas. The meal was a delightful introduction to Canarian cuisine, with options that pleased even my picky eaters. The setting was perfect, with panoramic views of the volcanic landscape providing a stunning backdrop to our dinner.

As night fell, the real magic began. The stargazing experience was unlike anything we had ever encountered. The guides set up telescopes and used laser pointers to highlight constellations, planets, and even the moon. My children were captivated, and I was thrilled to see their eyes light up with curiosity and wonder.

The highlight of the evening was seeing Jupiter and Saturn through the telescopes. The guides’ passion for astronomy was evident, and their ability to weave together science, mythology, and history made the experience truly immersive. We even had the chance to see Sirius, my favorite star, up close, thanks to Kieran’s thoughtful gesture.

As we made our way back to Los Cristianos, I reflected on the day’s adventures. It was a perfect blend of education, adventure, and family bonding. The memories we created under the stars will be cherished for years to come. This Teide Adventure is a must-do for any family visiting Tenerife, and I can’t wait to return and experience it all over again.
