Great overall experience! - Let me start by saying overall this was a great experience - with a few caveats. My daughter is into horses and has had a few lessons so when we were looking at excursion for our cruise, we tried to find horse back riding. The transportation from the port was great (Thanks Lalo!). But when we got there they told us that 2 hours horse back riding was too much for beginners and if we wanted, for $40 per person, we could upgrade to two experiences - 1 hour horses, 1 hour ATVs. I was kind of upset because why sell an activity that a majority of vacationers wouldn't be able to handle and then upsell me when I get there? We weren't willing to spend any more than we had already so we stuck with the horses - it was just our family of four and Jose said we could come back early if we got fatigued. Jose was a lovely man and a gentle soul. He put us on horses based on our experience and size. At one point, my husband's horse was giving him trouble so Jose swapped horses with him. He led us throug the desert to the beach and let me tell you - this beach is pristine. There are also people ATVing on the beach, but by the time we got down there, we were the only ones there. There were no ships in the sea, there was no one else on the beach and you felt like you were the only people on earth. It was gorgeous and I felt really fortunate to be there. On the way back we saw wild donkeys. Throughout the experience they are following you from afar on an ATV taking photos and video. They offer them for sale afterward. They are pricy (negotiable) but really beautiful. When we got home we didn't see the promised email in our inboxes, but after some back and forth we were able to get the link and access our photos/videos. They made a great souvenir. When we were done there wasn't much time for the tequila tasting (so I thought) and I don't usually drink straight liquor so I wasn't too sad about it, but they called us in for the tasting and the man who did the tasting was awesome. He was super knowledgeable and personable. He asked us what we normally drink (wine and burbon) and catered our taste to that. My husband and I both thought the tequila was excellent and we left with a bottle. The driver Lalo got us back to the port with 45 minutes until last tender. We got back on the ship in plenty of time and were very grateful for that. Overall it was an experience of a lifetime.

No fear for beginners - Lots of horses. Since we had no experience, they gave us horses that plodded behind the guide. I think I could have handled a little more spry horse, but this gave me confidence for next time. Victor was our guide and he was super. We only rode for a little over an hour instead of 2 hours - our bums were sore enough! We went over some inclines to get to the beach. Hang on! The photographer shows up now and again. At the end, you can review his photos on the computer and buy 1, 5, or the whole package. Tequila tasting was 3 different ones in tiny cups. Great afternoon!

Robar Family Adventure - We took roughly a 30 min drive from the cruise port to the tour HQ in Migrino Beach. The tour rep communicated with us via Whatsapp and the driver was prompt. We took a pic of ourselves and texted it to them so the transition was smooth. Once there we paid a $25 national park fee per person. $100 total. Then as a large group of other tourists received a briefing, sized for horses and were in our way. It was an amazing 3 hour experience over hills, ridges and the beach. Tour reps Reyes and Arturo were great! They helped our kids, gave them encouraged them, which made it fun and enjoyable. Our horses walked and galloped, plus it was a nice cool breeze. We recommend bringing a water source and long shorts. Way cheaper than booking via a cruise line, and a wayyy better tour. We were there and back to the cruise port in a reasonable time frame. 30 mins there, 30 mins back give or take. Oh, and we had tequila tasting at the end with 6 different tequilas. Two thumbs up and 5 stars.

Good tour, exhausting upselling - Fun shore excursion. Horses are slow and definitely just going through the motions. Be ready for non stop upselling. $25 mandatory entrance fee seems suspicious, as does the 16% “tax” for using credit card. Ugh, at some point you just have to accept it! Definitely not worth the upsell for us $150 extra for “private” tour. Ours ended up being basically a private tour anyway. Photos are a ripoff too—$150!?!? Nice staff, but the constant “you take care of me, I take care of you” is exhausting.

Commercialized Experience - An experience with constant up selling or request for gratuity. Additionally they charge a $25 hidden fee for access to experience. It just wasn't our cup of tea.

Scammy Rip Off - I booked online and no one called me to confirm pick up as per the email I received. When i finally reached the business after many unanswered calls, I was told that we would be picked up the next day and to wait at the front gates of our building, which we did. I was informed that there would be a "park fee" added to ur total and I asked if I could pay with my card, which they said yes to. We waited and waited for our pick up, and finally contacted the business yet again as no one contacted us. Upon arrival at the business, we were informed that a surcharge would be added to the "park fee" as I was paying with my card; again, no mention of this was made over the phone. The other people in my group (who we didn't know) also complained about this shady business practice. It turned out there was no "park fee"; that's just another way to get more money out of tourists after they've already arrived in the middle of nowhere. They also wanted $40 USD per photo that their photographer took, after they told us to lock up our phones as we'd be unsafe taking them with us on the horses...again, a scammy cash grab. Then at the end, our guide gave us a mandatory long sob story about how he can't face his family at the end of the day if we didn't tip him at least $25 USD per person. An activity we'd booked online for $60 USD per person ended up costing 3 of us over $500 USD. Don't bother, and if you do, just understand you'll be paying much more than advertised to listen to the workers' sob stories the whole time.

Do not book - Total scam - I’ve been in sales 30 years and this was a game..started at $200 and ended over $500 - their tactic is guilt trips and misinformation - at the core of their process, it’s straight under disclosure and manipulation
