Additional Information

On the Mount Hollywood Hiking journey, we’ll convene at the Greek Theater. You will then trek through the Bird Sanctuary, advancing into the hills of Hollywood while the history of Los Angeles’ first dwellers, the Tongva, is narrated to you. As we scale the hills, Los Angeles unfolds beneath you, serving as a perfect illustration of the city’s development and the interconnection of its various districts. From Mount Hollywood’s peak, nearly all of Los Angeles is visible.

Post that, we’ll descend along the paths, pausing at optimal locations for capturing those perfect Instagram pictures of the Hollywood Sign, leading up to the Griffith Observatory. We’ll conclude your Mount Hollywood Hiking experience by offering you a brief tour of the Observatory, post which you’re left to explore this amazing free museum.

  • A reusable water bottle is included (worth $10 on retail).
  • Children aged between 7-12 enter for free
  • Good family option - tour is free for children aged 7-11 y.o. It’s not recommended for children under 7 y.o.
  • Hang out at the Griffith Observatory after the tour. It’s one of the best museums in LA (closed Mondays).

  • By making a booking for this tour you agree to be bound by The Real Los Angeles Tours terms of service.
  • Better than hiking to the Hollywood Sign - this route has great views of the icon AND it includes the Griffith Observatory, the Greek Theater, the Bird Sanctuary and a secret garden. It’s also a gentler hike.
  • This is a hike, it’s not suitable for people with mobility issues, a low fitness level or a fear of heights.

Best way to experience LA - Chris was a great host, keeping us all entertained with LA stories (past and present) on the 2 hr hike. Stunning scenery with the promise of the wonderful Griffith Observatory at the end.

Awesome hike and Damian was great! - Damian is a fantastic guide. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and his love for the city and its story really comes through. We weren’t sure about doing a walking tour but we were so glad we did. It was a highlight of our time in LA and we learned some really interesting things about the history and development of the area. Will definitely recommend the tour to friends heading to LA.

Great walking tour - A cool way to see the park and observatory. We were lucky we were the only ones on the tour, so we got out guide to ourselves. He was great providing commentary on the history of LA and the park. It wasn't to physically grueling, the views were amazing, including a good spot for the Hollywood sign. It finished up at the observatory, where we had the option to walk back to the start with our guide or stay and spend time at the observatory which we did. Just note, the reception isn't great up there, so we weren't able to order and Uber. It was dark by then, so we ended up jumping on the local bus to get back to the Greek Theatre. I wouldnt recommend driving to the observatory, the traffic and parking wasnt great. Great tour which I would recommend.

Best Experience! - Our guide provided the best hiking experience. His knowledge of L.A. history was fascinating regarding California, Hollywood, the buildings, sign, and people. The view was amazing. Small groups and easy to follow directions, meeting place, and parking. We will book again and take more tours with this company!
