Houses of Parliament - The Palace of Westminster, to give it its official name, serves as the meeting place for both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, the two houses of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.

Westminster Abbey - The Abbey has been the coronation church since 1066, and is the final resting place of 17 monarchs, as well as the scene of 16 Royal weddings. The church we see today was begun by Henry III in 1245. It’s one of the most important Gothic buildings in the country, and has the medieval shrine of an Anglo-Saxon saint at its heart.
Today it is still a church dedicated to regular worship and to the celebration of great events in the life of the nation. Neither a cathedral nor a parish church, Westminster Abbey (or the Collegiate Church of St Peter, Westminster to give it its correct title) is a “Royal Peculiar” under the jurisdiction of a Dean and Chapter, subject only to the Sovereign and not to any archbishop or bishop. -

Trafalgar Square - Laid out on the former Royal Mews of Whitehall Palace in 1830 - these buildings were demolished for the Charing Cross Improvement scheme, which provided for the construction of Trafalgar Square and a lasting memorial to Lord Horatio Nelson who had been killed at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
