Explore the remarkable site by climbing 200 steep steps to access the caves, which were carved thousands of years ago from a hillside in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra. These rock-cut shrines were designed for Buddhist monks to use during the monsoon season. They include chaityas (prayer halls) adorned with intricate carvings, with the largest room measuring 148 feet, created in the 1st century B.C.
