Wassadou - In the early morning, travel through the lush savannah with numerous mounds to Tambacounda, a bustling bush town and a key railway stop before reaching Mali. Lunch will be available (at your own expense) at a typical restaurant in Tambacounda. Continue to Niokolo Koba National Park. Check in at the Wassadou Hotel, located on the banks of the Gambia River. Enjoy a boat trip to observe the hippopotamus colonies (if water levels permit) or take a guided walk along the river to explore the local flora and fauna, including monkeys, birds, and varans, among others.
Niokolo Koba Park – Kedougou
Kedougou - Start the day with a guided game drive at Niokolo Koba Park. This is a fantastic opportunity to see warthogs, monkeys, antelopes, various bird species, and occasionally panthers and lions. After the game drive and a picnic lunch, travel to Mako for a walk along the Gambia River’s bank in search of hippos before continuing to Kedougou.
