Awesome tour and guide! - Well worth the money and use of time. Our guide was Rita and she was awesome. Very knowledgeable about the sites and the castle and little fun tidbits of facts. She asked us (our group was only 8 people—which was great!) if we would be interested in stopping at a authentic family owned and operated restaurant between the two cites in the rural countryside for a lunch. I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed this place and the food! Top tier! I had the baked Sea Bass with steamed potatoes and veggies. The charcuterie board and wine was ready for us when we were seated. She made several stops for views of the water and waves and the resort town of Cascais…. Would recommend this tour!!

What an awesome way to... - What an awesome way to get to visit the areas west of Lisbon! We were going to try to replicate this ourselves with public transit, but definitely could not have visited as much in the time we did. Our tour guide was also very knowledgeable on the history of Portugal and gave us recs for the rest of our visit as well!

Thank you, Liliana! - Our guide Liliana was excellent, knowledgeable, and friendly. She knows A LOT of history about the places we visited and was generous in offering recommendations for restaurants, attractions, etc. Also, one member of our party took ill during our tour and she was very attentive to him during our trip to make sure he was comfortable.

We had a wonderful... - We had a wonderful experience with Xavier. He gave us the history of the Pena Palace on our way there, then tied it all into the tour of the palace. He had great lunch and snack recommendations and was an overall excellent tour guide.

Alternative experience - Our tour guide was great Rita she done her best taking us to places that weren’t on the list because unfortunately we couldn’t visit Pena Palace as was closed down down to terrible weather conditions prior to our tour. Rita luckily make our trip very interesting and special.

Nice destinations - The tour was good as far as going to the places we were supposed to go. The weather did not cooperate that day, but that's beyond the tour company control. As for the tour guide, Ruben, he was nice and pleasant but didn't know history very well. Someone else in the tour asked him a question about a king and his answer was "Charles I or II or III, some number, I can't remember" lol. Besides that, it was a nice tour.

Great tour overall,... - Great tour overall, Miguel “Mike” was a great tour guide and so knowledgeable! Tour has hills to climb in sintra, and you get about an hour and a half in Cascais after Sintra. I enjoyed the stop we made during the drive to Europe’s most western point. Wish we had more time in Cascais and less time in Sintra. It was a very foggy day so we couldn’t see anything at Sintra, and there was a lot of construction. We also wish we had a little bit more time exploring Sintra’s village, maybe an extra thirty minutes. Overall, great tour!!

Multilingual groups possible maybe request English only? - The tour guide Tony was wonderful- however he had a multi-lingual group which meant 3 of us spoke English and the other 5 spoke Spanish so our guide had to communicate everything in English and Spanish which was quite difficult when you were trying to understand and it definitely took away from the experience. Keep in mind this is a huge tour company that advertises small group. Don’t be surprised when you show up at Hard Rock Cafe with 25-30 people.

Worth going, pick your tour wisely - I was very much looking forward to this trip. I had been on 3 other Viator trip, 2 of which were in Portugal, and have enjoyed every one. Those three trips were 5-star experiences. This was not. Here's why: Our tour was through Inside Lisbon, a company that seems to have grown too big to insure quality tours. Our tour guide Ruben was nice enough, and he was a good and safe driver, but he showed little passion for the subject matter. He didn't seem that interested in or knowledgeable about the places we were visiting.. He didn't seem to know much about the places we went other than the script he had learned which he conveyed with minimal flare or color. He also showed little interest in the eight of us in the car past the required intro questions at the beginning of each tour. Additionally, the front window of the car was filthy. It was like something sticky has gotten on it and someone had half heartedly tried to wipe it away smearing it all over. On a long drive to have dirty windows on a tour seems both avoidable and unacceptable. Lastly, in the morning when all 6 or 7 Inside Lisbon tour guides showed up at the meeting point not one of them was female. This seemed odd and is something I think the company needs to attend to. As for the tour itself, the Pena Palace was built mid-19th century by a man with more money than taste, in my opinion. Still, it's a novelty and there are aspects that are appealing, especially the view, i imagine, if you happen to go on a clearer day. The town of Sintra is cute and the countryside is beautiful. I think it's worth visiting Sintra and Cascais. The tour is a nice way to get out of the city and see some other beautiful parts of Portugal. With a skilled, knowledgeable, engaging tour guide, i think learning about the towns, surrounding areas, and history would be quite interesting. Lastly, dress warmly! Apparently, it's always cooler there than in Lisbon--often MUCH colder. I wore a fall jacket and wished I had worn my winter coat.

First poor experience in Portugal - Overpriced for what you get. This is a mass operation. "Small group" with About Lisbon company means it's about 50-60 tourists gathered together that broken into groups of 8 people per van. Here is a catch, read fine and misleading print: "multilingual guide". It doesn't mean that guide is multilingual, but if you are unlucky like I was (family of 3), you are stuck in a van for a whole day with people that do not speak your language. And guide (they are all below average in the company) now has to repeat whatever little they know in 2-3 languages and you in the meantime wait for the group. Sintra is nice but VERY TOURISTY. After that experience I contacted the operator since I had another tour booked with them. They said they can't guarantee that group will not be multilingual. Well, cancelled the next tour and rebooked with another operator. Misleading and overpriced. First time in my life didn't tip the guide, she was trying but I am not going to encourage such service
