Highlights
  • Sintra Mountains - Sintra and Cascais are small villages just outside of Lisbon, and they’re the real “must-do” tour when visiting Lisbon. Located in a beautiful protected area, the Sintra Hills are the home of some of the most beautiful Palaces and Castles.
  • Park and National Palace of Pena - Pena Palace is the most iconic Palace in Sintra. It is considered the most beautiful Castle in Europe, and it’s a true pleasure to walk in its Park, or just admire the views from its balconies, with Lisbon in the horizon.
  • Sintra - Enjoy some free time to lunch and explore Sintra Village, which looks just like a postcard town.

Taste the local pastries, check some souvenirs or just enjoy the ambience there.

  • Cabo da Roca - Visit Roca Cape (Cabo da Roca), the westernmost piece of land in Europe.

Free time to admire the views and take some photos!

  • Cascais - You’ll have free time to explore Cascais, its bay and the surrounding streets.

The once fishing village that turned into home of kings in exile, and one of the espionage centers during World War II, Cascais is now a pleasant beach town, where people walk the streets while enjoying the sun.

  • Estoril - Drive through the Marginal Road, always along the coast, enjoying amazing views over the ocean, first, and the Tagus River, arriving in Lisbon.

Great guide Diego, fantastic scenery, interesting history - This private day trip to Sintra and Cascais was fantastic. Our guide, Diego, picked us up at our airbnb on time, in a spacious comfortable car with plenty of cold water on hand. It was a hot day and we started our visit to the Peña Palace with a lovely walk through the shady gardens (an excellent choice). Diego was full of information and very fun. He has broad interests and was comfortable answering questions about just about anything. He spared us the wait on the long line and was cheerful throughout. Our lunch in town featured great food and beautiful views. Our visit to the coast (spectacular) and Cascais (worth seeing) were wonderful. All in all, lovely, interesting, and seamless day. Thanks Diego!

Great tour and great guide - Our guide, John, picked us up and we drove for about 30 minutes to Sintra. He described different buildings along the way, including the Parliament Building. We stopped at a lovely look-out point where we could see Lisbon. We then went to Pena Palace and did a guided walk through the gardens with John which took about 30 minutes. John explained the royal history and the architecture – he is very knowledgeable. We did an independent tour of the Palace and skipped the long lines since we had a group booking. John met us at the end of the palace tour. The palace is quite colourful and fairy-tale like outside. John took us to some of the terraces and showed us an interesting gargoyle at the entrance to the cathedral courtyard. He then took us to the chapel with a beautiful stain glass window. We walked the walls and saw the Moorish castle from afar. John dropped us off in the historic center of Sintra so we could walk around, grab lunch and then go to Quinta da Regaleira. We walked 15 minutes to Quinta da Regaleira. We had purchased tickets on line so we did not have to wait in the long line up – we walked right up to the door and went in. In Quinta da Regaleira we saw the amazing Initiation Well and the series of caves which lead to grottos with a small waterfall. We missed our connection with John and he had to drive around the block again since he could not stop so we had time to see Regaleira Chapel. When John picked us up and we told him that we did not have time for pastries, he offered to drop us off in the historic center again to pick up pastries and use the washroom. I suggested to John that he didn’t have to do the rest of the tour since we were late but he insisted. We drove us about 20 minutes to Caba da Roca which is the westernmost point of mainland Europe. There is a lighthouse and a view point. We then drove along the coast to a town called Cascais. We saw many castles and beaches along the way. When we arrived in Cascais, John dropped us off for 45 minutes to have ice cream and walk around the beach area. John was so patient and kind - it was clear that he really cared about his tour and ensuring his guests had a great time.

Great tour to Sintra - We had a great tour with our guide Nuno. He showed up on time, picked us up at our hotel. Nuno was VERY knowledgeable. He gave us tons of information and interesting stories. He was very flexible with the tour. There was a long line for the Castle and he went out of his way to contact the office and get us tickets so we didn’t have to wait. The castle was not part of the tour but my son wanted to see the castle and Nuno made it happen. I highly recommend booking a tour with Nuno. You won’t be disappointed.
