Alternatively, you can choose to visit two wineries and enjoy a complete lunch at a quaint family-owned restaurant in one of the villages.
- Jose Maria de Fonseca - At the world-famous wine cellars of José Maria da Fonseca, you will delve into the winery’s rich history, dating back to 1834, and taste some of its exceptional wines. This is one of Portugal’s oldest family-owned cellars, currently in its 7th generation. This winery is a staple in our day’s itinerary.
- Quinta do Alcube - Another highlight is Quinta de Alcube, a family-owned wine cellar with over a century of history (since 1913). During your visit to this charming traditional winery, you can sample their wine selection and learn more about the “agricultural side” of winemaking.
- Casa Agrícola Assis Lobo, Lda - This small family-owned winery, located in one of the villages, is another potential stop on our tour. It is the smallest in the region, offering a unique perspective on the evolution of winemaking practices.
- Casa Mae da Rota de Vinhos - Each of Portugal’s 14 wine regions has a regional “Mother House.” Here, all 24 wineries of the Setúbal region are represented in one location. You will have the opportunity to see and taste the diverse offerings from different wineries, showcasing their unique terroirs, styles, and types.
- Palmela - If you opt for a tour that includes a full lunch (appetizers, main course (fish or meat), dessert, and beverage (wine or other)), it will be served in a cozy traditional family-owned restaurant in the village of Palmela.

- The selection of the wineries will done by us, depending on their availability and weather conditions at the time
- At time of booking, clients must provide their hotel/Airbnb name/address
- At time of booking, Cruise ship passengers must provide their ship name, disembarkation time and re-boarding time
- Refunds will not be issued if tour/activity is missed due to late or non-arrival of cruise ship
- Dress code is smart casual

Excellent day trip to... - Excellent day trip to Setubal. We did 2 wine tastings and lunch. First stop at JMF winery was very informative with 2 excellent wines. Second stop included 5 tastings, all excellent. Lunch was superb at A Linete, you should go there even if not on a tour. Rodrigo was extremely knowledgable and a capable guide. Great day!

Highly recommended; we would book with this organizer again. - It was a great day; we saw a lot, although not about the production, but about the storage and handling of wine. Of course, with appropriate tastings. Joao is a fantastic guide; he knows the background and explains everything clearly. Just a very nice day in Portugal.

Wine Time in Setúbal! - We had a tasty day with Rod visiting 3 wineries in the Setubal area. He was very knowledgeable about all the wines we sampled. We visited a large winery, a small family winery and a large wine store that sold all the wines from the area. The weather was sunny and most wines were very good.

Our time with Rodrigo was... - Our time with Rodrigo was excellent and we’d take another tour with him. He was friendly, knowledgeable of the areas we visited, has a strong knowledge of wine and wine making and was quite the historian. We visited 2 lovely family-owned wineries and had a great time learning about the families. Rodrigo took us to a local family-owned restaurant where the food was delicious. We talked an d enjoyed Rodrigo’s company the entire time.

This is a must do! - One of our favorite parts of our trip! This is truly private. My husband and I were picked up by Ricardo and driven to the wine region, he talked about Lisbon and the wineries on the way. He showed us around the small town and we visited an old larger winery. The tour was very interesting. Beatrice did an amazing job. Then we went to small winery where we tasted 6 wines and met owner Anna. She was very kind and sweet. We had great snacks here. We chose to visit the motherhouse instead of lunch and bought more cheese here. We tasted 5 more wines and we have pictures of all so we can have some shipped home later.

Lisbon winery tour - This was one of the best tours we have ever been on. Ricardo was fabulous. We went to two wineries. One very large and one small. Enjoyed both. We then had a fantastic lunch at a small restaurant. The seafood was fantastic. Throughly enjoyed every moment of this tour. I would highly recommend this tour.

Great wineries and great... - Great wineries and great food. Our tour guide Ricardo was brilliant and very accommodating. He was very knowledgeable and great to talk to. The first winery was old and traditional with huge output. The second was new and establishing itself, yet the wine was great. We chose the lunch option which turned out to be a treat…and we also met up with another small group at lunch which made it all the more better. Highly recommended.

A fabulous day with TakingUThere! - We had an amazing time on our tour with TakingUThere. We did the Private Wine Tasting in the Setúbal region. We chose the option of the three wineries - we visited the “Mother House” of the region, José Maria da Fonseca (a large winery where we joined a tour given by the winery), and Assis Lobo, a smaller winery where we met one of the owners (who was absolutely delightful and also provided us with a lovely experience) and also had the food tasting of the day (a delicious and filling spread of meats, cheeses, and cookies). It was a nice mix of places, each one providing a different experience. João was a fantastic tour guide - he was extremely knowledgeable and personable. We actually had such a great time on this tour, we’ve already discussed using this company for a trip to Morocco in the future! I highly recommend this tour!

Not worth your time or money on this wine tour. - We traveled with 4 adults on this private tour. The car was way too small for the 4 of us plus driver and uncomfortable. We expected a van. The first winery was beautiful but the wine tasting experience was very poor. Not much information shared and two pours which was sub par. I asked to try a white wine but was told no, even and I offered to pay for it. Second winery was disappointment as far as the experience since it was in a small tasting room with little chairs. I wish our tour guide would let the owner talk more about the wines and her business. The wine was good. We have done many wine tours which cost a lot less and were so much better. We definitely did not get what we paid for. Expected so much more than a crammed car ride and sitting in a small room sampling wine. Also the tour said including cheese and we had no cheese.
