Additional Information

Portugal may be a small country, but its contributions to world exploration have been immense. It played a crucial role during Europe’s Age of Discovery and exploration between the 15th and 18th centuries.

The earthquake of 1755 devastated Lisbon, destroying 85% of the city and resulting in the deaths of more than 20,000 people on that day. Earth, fire, wind, and water all contributed to the natural disaster on November 1, 1755.

Take the opportunity to ride a tram, visit Lisbon’s newest museum, Quake, and explore two UNESCO World Heritage sites: the Jerónimos Monastery, showcasing unique Portuguese Gothic architecture, and the Belém Tower.

To top it all off, enjoy a delicious custard tart.

Don’t miss the chance to see the Discoveries Monument, constructed in Belém during the 1960s as a tribute to Henry the Navigator.

Explore the east side of Lisbon and its most historic neighborhood with a professional guide in a four-hour tour filled with knowledge.
