Exceeded our expectations - Our tour guide, Paulo, was an excellent guide. He was so accommodating and explained sights of interest very well. He gave us time to explore on our own and tips on what and where to eat the local pastries. It was an amazing tour which totally exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend this tour company.

A great experience! - I cannot recommend the trip highly enough. It was a great experience overall! I took this trip together with my sister. Hugo was our tour guide for the day. He picked up us up at the nearest hotel in the morning and dropped us back to the same location once the trip was finished. Hugo was a friendly and an excellent tour guide throughout the trip showing us around Moorish castle and Peña palace. His knowledge of the sites and history behind it was exceptional as we learned many things about the sites and Portuguese history. The views are stunning and picturesque. A must visit place in Portugal!

A fairy tale castle - We were lucky because of this pandemic situation because this place is overloaded with the tourists but yesterday we wet almost alone there. A great experience. We just bye a ticket for the park and castle without the entrance to the interior and that was great. A stunning views over the valley and beautiful exterior of the castle and nice park as well pays for a long climb

Great day with Claudia - This was by far the best day of our trip! I went on holiday with my 75-year old mother, who has trouble walking. We were picked up at our apartment at 8am by Claudia and her father, who was the driver. Claudia explained a lot about what we saw and Portuguese history and we really enjoyed her vibe and her stories. Since this was a private tour, she really listened to what we wanted to do and see and paid attention to the fact that my mom can't walk very far. We decided to skip the Moorish Castle (steep steps) and went to see Montserrat Palace instead, which has a beautiful garden (much nicer than Pena Palace). Claudia went with my mom to the palace, so that I could wander around in the garden on my own. She also made sure we got to Pena Palace at opening time, so that it wasn't very crowded yet (half an hour later it was packed already). She always made sure the car was nearby, so my mom didn't have to walk far.On the way back, we went to Cabo da Roca and Cascais as well. I totally recommend this trip!

WHAT A VIEW - After visiting, we now know why the moor’s built a fortress in this location. You can see the full cost line along with the full countryside. To get the best views, go to the highest tower you will also get a good breezes to cool you down after the hike up. Just an FYI. There is a lot of steps along with a good vertical climb. We found that if you just took your time it is quite do-able

Breathtaking views, even in winter! - Although many people visit the palaces in Summer, a visit in winter is definitely recommended! The cool weather really complimented the energetic walk along the castle walls. The walk to the Moorish castle through the beautiful forest as well as the visit to the castle itself was an outstanding day trip. My only wish is that the glass-protected exhibits were cleaned and that they were easier to see in the wet weather, otherwise, everything - even the bathrooms-were great!

Pena palace access is a nightmare - Extremely poor access arrangements to the pena palace. lots of coaches arriving and only a small number of ticket machines. Q scanner codes at gates not working.... Also poor signage and only a few people organising. once you get in if you want to get the bus up the steep hill to palace "which most people use" you need a 3 euro ticket....which is back outside the gate. Entering the actual palace is set out in different time slots that you set when buying tickets but the queues are long and people stand in wrong queues. A nice place to visit and the moorish castle is very close also and worth a visit ....but very poorly organised. And this is low season in November.

It's a shame, but experience was awful - Honestly, if you're short on time don't waste it here unless it's off off OFF season. The town of Sintra itself is lovely but the Pena Palace experience is a complete bust. It's ridiculously overcrowded and badly managed. We had been warned that it's busy and that afternoon tickets were better for lighter crowds but it was still a nightmare. When you enter the park area it is still a 30 minute uphill walk to the castle unless you pay for the bus shuttle (worth it). Many people were missing their timed ticket entry times because no one tells you that you are so far from the entry point. After close to an hour waiting (even with timed ticket) the interior was so crowded that we were swept along with the crowd rather than walking at your own pace. It is a one way path so you have no choice but to shuffle with the masses and there was no way to see anything. We eventually followed someone out who had a medical issue and was allowed to proceed to an exit. From what we could see the gardens are lovely but we were so frustrated that we just left. Upon exiting the park, the queue for the bus back to town was at least 100 deep. We just grabbed one of the private drivers who are clogging the exit and got out! If you do want to go, either be sure to get the first entry time or go in the winter. It's a shame because the area is lovely but this just made us hate it.
