Leo was great - Leo is a great guide. Very knowledgeable about the history of the monastery and Portugese history in general. The discovery monument was interesting with Leo filling us in on Portugal's age of discovery and its aftermath. He is an engaging teacher and we learned a lot in the 3 hour tour.

Excellent tour guide Leo. Highly recommend it - Leo was extremely knowledgeable. He gave us so many interesting facts about the history of the city, monastery and the church. What i loved the most was the explanation of the different styles in the architecture of both buildings. He bought us nata de Belem and was very nice.

Really helped give context to our morning in Belém - Luis was a great guide! We had some trouble finding him at first because the Monastery recently changed their ticketing, so I recommend asking in advance what/who you should look for since the area was so crowded. Luis was incredibly knowledgeable and we learned a ton about Belém. He really helped us understand the historical context of when the monastery was both built and seized and all the symbolism present in the architecture. We were also able to skip the long line to get Pastel de Belém! Note that the Belém towel is under renovation until at least April 2026, so we weren’t able to see as much of it, but we did visit and learn about the monument to the discoveries which is even more interesting to look at, if not particularly historical. You won’t regret this tour!

Convenient Way to See Belem - This is a great tour to get a half-day experiencing the major sites of Belem. Our tour guide Frederico was great wrangling our group of 12 people. We were able to hear him through a supplied earpiece as we made our way from Jeronimo Monastary, to the adjacent church, grabbing pastel de natas at Pastel de Belem, to the Monument to the Discoveries, and finally to the Belem Tower. We went late September so I would advise to be prepared for a sun-filled day as the lines do not have any shade! The biggest upside to this tour was being able to go through the tour group line. We started at 9:30 am and although we still had to wait in line to enter the Monastery and Church, the individual ticket lines were something out of Disneyland! Around 10:30 am, the lines were even longer! The tour ended at Belem Tower and I headed straight back to the Pastel de Belem for some more tasty pastries. Try their fresh squeezed orange juice!
