This tour takes you on a journey through time, exploring the historical legacy and customs of olden Lisbon.

Commencing from Rossio Square, we ascend Lisbon’s medieval hill via the famed Mouraria district, a locale where diverse cultures and traditions paradoxically converge, including Fado - Lisbon’s most enduring tradition. Following a taste of Lisbon’s delectable pastries, we’ll explore the gripping tales attached to the impregnable St. George Castle and meander the adjoining medieval Santa Cruz quarter.

Next, we delve deeply into the Alfama district, experiencing its unique ambiance while learning about its past and practices. We’ll stroll past the ‘Ancient’ Cathedral, irrefutably linked to Lisbon’s genesis and history, and culminate our journey at one of the ancient city’s most symbolic plazas—a perfect haven to unwind post this educational tour.

  • Children (under 6 years old) don’t pay and are always welcome (please be aware that walking tours with children and baby trolleys may be hard to handle in some situations).

  • Some amount of walking is involved, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Maria was a a great guide and her... - <p>Maria was a a great guide and her knowledge of old Lisbon was amazing, we thoroughly recommend this tour it gives you a great insight into the whole history of Lisbon and Portugal. Make sure you are reasonably fit the terrain is steep but Maria does the tour in short stages which is good.<br/> Terry and Laurel Perth Western Australia</p>
