More than just hard, but fantastic hike - I am happy I had a guide for this strenuous hike. And it was a great luck I had Elvis! He has tons and tons of info about the island, its history and nature, and he loves sharing it. Loved it! Elvis was attentive throughout the whole hike, and helped me immensely during the last kilometers of the distance. Highly recommend to have a guide for this hike, and choose Elvis!

Challenging & rewarding hike - BEST done with an expert guide!! - Elvis was an absolutely fantastic guide! He is very knowledgeable on flora and fauna of the island, as well as its history. He took excellent care to make sure each member in our group knew the safest areas to hike and the best hand and footholds when climbing. We saw several other guides who were NOT taking the care to do this with their guests!! I had read online that there were potential safety concerns with this hike, and that is why I decided to hire a guide. I am VERY glad I did!! Not only were the safety warnings very valid, but I feel we would have missed out on so much of the knowledge Elvis had to share! Excellent trip! Highly recommended!!

Elvis is an Amazing Tour Guide - We did a lot of research before selecting a Tour Guide for our week-long vacation to Dominica. We ultimately chose Elvis (E Voyage) and it was the best decision we made. He was extraordinary! We've traveled quite a bit over the years and, without a doubt, Elvis was the BEST guide we ever had. Elvis has an extensive knowledge of the island and is an expert in the local flora. Through his expertise, the Island came alive! We were continually in awe of his ability to answer any question we threw his way. He knows the island like the back of his hand. He's a great guy and a delight to be around - always smiling and upbeat and 100% committed to ensuring we had a positive experience. He picked us up every day right on time and filled the day with a variety of memorable experiences. We were a group of 3 with varying physical abilities and Elvis adeptly flexed to each person's needs and preferences. He was always there with a helping hand whenever anyone needed it. We each felt well taken care of. We felt like we hit the jackpot with Elvis. He's an "11" on a "10 point" scale.

Incredible and thoughtful guide! - Elvis is an amazing guide. He has a PhD level knowledge of the plants and animals in Dominica! Incredible to learn from him. He is thoughtful and good at gauging how much help each hiker may need. Even if you're a good and athletic hiker, I'd highly recommend doing this hike with a guide (especially with Elvis!). The trail has major uphill sections before descending into a steep, precarious downhill. Elvis' guidance made the hike more relaxing and fun, even though we were still sore! He even got us back in time too to check out Titou Gorge at the end of the hike!

Hike with Elvis - Elvis was great! Thanks for a person like him. The trail with him was full of information about where we were going, about Dominica, ecology and history too. Although the trail is very difficult, we were safe with Elvis. Never go on a trail alone, always with a guide. Ask for Elvis and enjoy the views.

Elvis is THE tour guide for journey! - The hike was stunning, certainly not easy—but with Elvis' help and expertise, it was an amazing experience. As we passed other guides, they mentioned he was the one that taught them everything they knew. And I am by no means an experienced hiker, but it was definitely doable, if arduous at times on the way back! I hiked alongside another solo traveler and we took around 8 hours, as we stopped periodically for photos, with a dslr strapped around my neck throughout. She brought walking sticks, but I think they were a bit of a nuisance to her for the most part. We also boiled a few fresh eggs in the streams, which Elvis brought along. Additionally, I originally booked my hike for Saturday, but due to weather conditions, it was pushed to the next Thursday which we coordinated over Whatsapp. He is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about botany, the regional environment, and the island's history. He mentioned it was likely one of the final hikes without the tram coming in as they're planning to put it up by next summer. The tram is uprooting portions of the forest and will bypass the landscape and deliver cruise ship guests directly to the lake. And that, alongside people going without guides is putting the trail out of maintenance for the foreseeable future. Honestly, the hike is the whole experience, and having a wonderful guide made it an incredible experience, I'm really glad I got to do it before leaving Dominica.

Best Hike Ever - Boiling Lake, Desolation Valley and all the Views are amazing! Elvis is the best guide. He is conscientious, super knowledgeable, dedicated and passionate about the ecology and wildlife on the island. Elvis should be an advisor for political changes, balancing tourism with ecological needs. I hope to return for more hiking experiences in Dominica.

Last minute cancellation by the guide - apparently happens frequently with him - I had booked the tour a few weeks ago and when I tried to contact Elvis 2 days before the tour regarding Meeting time & location, he did not respond AT ALL. I also called him a few times, but no response. Elvis cancelled the tour last minute the morning of the tour (a tour that is supposed to start at 0700 am). As far as I am concerned, Elvis is unreliable and does not communicate. Therefore I cannot recommend booking with him. Of course, I paid for the trip upfront on TripAdvisor and am still waiting for my refund. I managed to get on the tour with another guide this week and there were other people in my group that have made the same experience with Elvis. I strongly recommend to TripAdvisor to take this operator off your site. Claudia

unreliable. don't recommend - The organiser informed me approx. 90 minutes before the tour was supposed to start that it wouldn't happen because I was the only attendant. So just to be clear: not 24 hours before (as one would expect), not even the evening before, but on the very morning of the tour less than 2 hours before the start, and not because of any emergency, no.

Don't book this tour - The tour guide didn't show up, which ruined my whole day. I sent messages to the tour operator via Viator twice but no response. I called him him twice when I was waiting at the pick-up point, he hanged up the call. I texted him, he didn't reply again.
