Fantastic - We had the most amazing experience trekking for 3 days in the rice fields from Banaue to Batad. Breathtaking sceneries and Miller was the best guide we could have wished for. He was very nice, attentionate, and helpful. He would adapt himself to our rythm and always made everything he could to give us the most pleasant experience, eventhough the hike could be challenging sometimes. Miller is a guide who will listen to your need before anything else. He also gave us a lot of explanations during the tour about the ricefield and the culture of the vilIagers. All this to say that I recommend going on this tour with Miller 200%.

Superb trek in the middle of rice fields - Many thanks to Miller (and his wife who accompanied us on part of the tour) for this superb trek in the rice fields of Ifugao province! I contacted him by email ([email protected]) for a 3 day / 2 night tour. He was super responsive and offered me a circuit perfectly adapted to what I had asked him. I did not wish to take the night bus from Manila, so I took a flight to Cauayan on Saturday morning, and returned on Tuesday morning with Monday night already booked near the airport. Even if this tour is not the most classic, I found it really good. It allows you to see the main sights and offers 2 days walk on the 3 days. We reached Banaue on the first day with some stops along the way, then on the second day trek between Banaue and Cambulo, a village accessible only on foot. On the 3rd day we continued the trek to Batad, then back to Cauayan in the afternoon (about 4h drive). The comfort for these 2 nights was certainly very basic, but you are immersed in local life, which is very rewarding. As Cambulo and Batad are only accessible on foot, they are very little developed villages where the inhabitants live very simply. This region is much less touristy than I thought, because it remains inaccessible. It is also necessary to walk and face the (very) many steps that allow to pass from one rice field to another. Depending on the weather conditions it can get more difficult, and showers are not uncommon in these mountains! You have to be prepared for this and have a minimum of physical condition. An unforgettable experience to live once in a lifetime!

Stunning Landscapes and Excellent Guided Experience - My wife and I had a great experience with Miller and his wife Bridgette who was our guide for the trip. Bridgette grew up in Batad and is very kind and knowledgable about the history and local practices around the rice terraces. She knew every plant that we asked about and explained their fascinating traditional use. She was also very flexible with the schedule and accommodated our interests and goals. My wife and I appreciated learning so much about the Indigenous people and the environment. We also enjoyed the fresh food and of course, the incredible landscape. The only thing we’d like to be informed about in the future is that you should travel light since a tricycle can only carry so much weight around steep roads. Your option is to either leave your suitcases at a accommodation in Banaue town centre before heading to Batad OR pay for an extra tricycle to have your luggage with you. Not a dealbreaker but would have been better to know so that we can pack accordingly. Otherwise, we highly recommend booking a tour with Banaue Adventours and we’ll definitely be back to experience it more :)

Not to be missed. - We booked our tour by writing an email to Miller, he immediately responded in a kind and exhaustive way. He picked us up with his super driver Rafy and we travelled at night in their clean and comfortable van for 4 people or more. Unfortunately, one person in the group became ill on the night of the trip so Miller adapted our tour to our needs the same morning. He has been an irreplaceable company, with him you can talk about anything, he is super prepared on any questions regarding the traditions and customs of his country. He accompanied us up and down the rice fields following our own pace and respecting our breaks. The route is challenging but really worth it, spectacular scenery and unique scents in the company of Miller. Priceless. The accommodations are very comfortable, our first accommodation had separate rooms and shared bathroom where we spent one night. The last two in private rooms with private bathrooms.

Excellent visit in Banaue region - We booked Miller's services by email following Tripadvisor's reviews. We had an excellent experience. We have spent three wonderful days in Banaue region. We knew we were arriving by public bus from Manilla and the rest was organized by Miller (guiding, accommodation, transport). Our guide for the 1st day was Lan and for the remaining two days Miller himself. Both were extremely knowledgeable about the rice growing process. There was not a question we had about life in the Philippines and the region that Miller did not respond to. In our group we had persons with different hiking fitness level. For Miller it was easy to adapt and propose the corresponding hikes. One of the most appreciated highlights was witnessing daily habit of rice cleaning from the bundle to the state of “the rice as we know it” ready for cooking. Miller’s in-laws in Batad were very accommodating. We were also happy with our accommodation in the both Banaue town and Batad. We are more than happy to recommend Miller for anybody planning to visit Banaue region in the future.

10/10 recommend! - I wish I could give this more than 5 stars. I booked my trip through Miller and he was super fast to respond to all of my Questions. He had another tour during the dates we wanted so we got to go with his wide, Bridget, instead. I cannot stress enough how amazing she was. I know she usually does 1-day tours but we got her for the 2-day. She’s extremely knowledgeable (she grew up in Badad) and prepared (I was having some knee pain and she brought some supports. She also had extra rain jackets in her bag for us in case we didn’t have any. My backpack strap broke during our first day and she sewed it (very well)! Staying the night in Cambulo was really a cool experience. If you have food allergies, I’d advise bringing a backpacking meal (I’m allergic to eggs and ordered toast in the morning that turned out to be French Toast). Be aware that the trail is slippery if it’s recently rained. Bethany was so communicative about where to step and helped me through the dicey parts. She told us so much about the area, the plants, the farming practices and the experience of life in the area. She pointed out wild strawberries and mint and medicinal plants. We were so sad to leave her! She sincerely goes above and beyond. I would t stress about going during the non peak season, when the terraces are all green. Because of climate change and a dwindling number of farmers, they plant at different times of year now. Regardless of the time of year, you should go. If you have balance issues or aren’t an experienced hikes, please be warned that this is a difficult hike. 21 km in the first day alone. The soil is mostly clay so very slippery and one slip up could send you hundreds of feet over the edge.

Excellent two-day track with a fantastic guide! - We had an amazing two-day trek in the Banaue-Batad area with Miller as our guide. The program was well-organized, and Miller took great care of us throughout the entire trip. He was always attentive, ensuring everything was going smoothly and helping us whenever needed. The accommodation he arranged for our overnight stay was clean and comfortable, and there was even an interesting evening program for guests. He also made sure we had plenty of food and water during the trek, which was much appreciated. Communication before the trip was excellent—Miller was very responsive on WhatsApp and provided all the necessary details about our arrival. We highly recommend Miller to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and caring guide in this beautiful region!

Awesome experience! - We did the day trip to Batad rice terraces. It is a must do when you come to the Philippines. Our guide Bridget was born and raised in Batad. She was very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about working the rice terraces and daily live in Batad.
