- Las Vegas - As the journey to the park begins, the knowledgeable guide will share fascinating insights about the Mojave Desert and the exciting adventure ahead. The trip will be well-stocked with snacks and water.
This tour stands out by taking you on several trails, each with its own unique story, from ancient petroglyphs to a movie set from a 1965 film, and the tale of a Southern Paiute outlaw who used this trail to evade capture.
During the adventure, participants will discover the deep red Aztec sandstone that forms the park, along with its flora and fauna. With any luck, a majestic bighorn sheep or even a herd might be spotted!
After exploring the Mojave Desert, a cooler filled with refreshing, local craft beer will be available for enjoyment.
Note: This is a sample itinerary and may change based on the group’s experience and park closures. From May 15th - September 30th, some trails, including the Fire Wave and White Domes trails, are closed due to extreme heat. Unfortunately, no tour operator can access these areas during this period.
- Valley of Fire State Park - As the tour approaches Valley of Fire, the group will leave the highway for a scenic drive through the Mojave Desert. A brief stop at the Valley of Fire sign will provide a perfect photo opportunity before entering the park. Inside, participants will learn about Nevada’s oldest and largest state park.
- Atlatl Rock - Step back in time by ascending a sturdy staircase to view 4,000-year-old petroglyphs etched into Atlatl Rock. These carvings depict humans, animals, and the lifestyle of the land’s ancient inhabitants. What story will be uncovered?
- Rainbow Vista - A short 1-mile (1.6 km) hike in Rainbow Vista offers breathtaking views of the park from the trailhead.
- Mouse’s Tank - Named after the Southern Paiute Indian outlaw, Little Mouse, who used this hidden spot to evade law enforcement, the 0.7-mile (1.1 km) trail, Mouse’s Tank, reveals why it was the perfect hideout, surrounded by ancient petroglyphs on the canyon walls.
- Valley of Fire Visitor Center - The Valley of Fire visitor center is a must-visit within the park. It features exhibits on the park’s geology, ecology, prehistory, and history. Additionally, there are plenty of souvenirs to take home. Adjacent to the visitor center is Balancing Rock Trail, a quick 0.1-mile (0.16 km) walk to a naturally carved sandstone pillar that appears to be a boulder attempting to escape.
There are also a couple of extra stops that are sure to delight!
- Elephant Rock - Witness the famous “Elephant Rock” arch formation while enjoying a scenic 1.3-mile (2.1 km) loop around it.
- Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign - Free Bonus Stop: Conclude the tour with a visit to the iconic Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign. A photo opportunity will celebrate the successful tour before returning to the hotel to relax.
