Additional Information

This distinctive Lares trek follows an uncommon route, deserted from the frequented paths. You’ll encounter secluded settlements like Cancha Cancha, situated so high within the mountains that a road to the village is non-existent. Take in the breath-taking lakes and landscapes and round off with a personalized, informative tour in Machu Picchu. This exclusive small-group journey includes both hearty and gourmet dishes, superior camping gear, and access to Lares’ thermal springs. Engage with the native inhabitants along the path and prepare to be fascinated on your visit to the enchanting ruins of Machu Picchu.

  • Important: If you want to climb Huayna Picchu mountain, you must book this at the same time as your trek or tour to Machu Picchu. Only 400 people can hike Huayna Picchu per day. You will climb it on your own after the tour in Machu Picchu around 10am. Please contact the local tour operator upon booking to arrange this
  • Horses and mules carry the food, camping equipment and your belongings up to 7 kg
  • During the trek to Machu Picchu your main luggage will be stored in Cusco and you will receive a small duffel bag (on the day of your briefing) to pack clothes for 3-4 days. Your team of porters will carry these bags together with the food and equipment for the trail. Please note that you will not have access to these items until the end of each day as the porters will always be ahead of the group, you should therefore bring a day pack in which you can carry personal belongings such as your camera, water and sunscreen. By Peruvian law the duffel bag carried by the porters must not weigh more than 7kg (14 pounds). You can either store your luggage at your hotel or you can leave it with the tour operator
  • Please advise any specific dietary requirements at time of booking

One of those experiences that make you drop everything and commit to trekking life - This was an amazing trek that I wish could lasted longer. As a first time trekker and first time at that altitude, I was very nervous that I could complete it. It worked out well mainly due to the help of our professional guide Oskar. The group was small and the setup pretty friendly. The cooks and the porters did an amazing job taking care of us. Our chef Nerio made masterful presentations of his food, and even a cake, all in that wilderness. We were always supplied with more than enough food and breaks for tea/snacks to replenish energy. Logistics aside, the hike is incredibly beautiful, felt like off the beaten track, almost no other tourists on site, we were able to connect and understand better the population in the region. I definitely recommend and will do it again myself soon.

Bucket List... check!! - This trip was on the top of my bucket list and it did not disappoint. The experience was one of a kind and made so many amazing memories with my husband. The days were long but our tour guide, Jhordy, made it all worth it. He had so much knowledge about the Inka's and was so passionate about the history. The porters went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and the chef was FIVE star. Every meal was delicious and put so much effort in making the presentation, absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend to either bring or rent the hiking pools and mattress pad. Don't forget bug spray and sunscreen. It's definitely a must. Hope you take the adventure... you won't regret it.

Amazing Experience - We went on the 4 day Inca trail hike to Machu Picchu. This was one of the best trips and experiences I've been on. The food was exceptional and the porters and folks helping set up camp and pack in your extra supplies are fantastic. Thanks to our tour guide Jhordy for pushing us on the hike and educating us on the sights and Inca culture. Can't recommend the company and Jhordy enough.

5 day Inca trek - Highly recommend Sam’s travels they look after the porters who work extremely hard and only have small groups which is great! We had an anwesome experience with ray our guide! The chef Timothy and head porter Bonny made sure every meal was delicious and luggage and tents were organised like glamping. Ray was patient, knowledgeable and most importantly lots of fun! Recommend the 5 day rather than 4 as you get better camp site and no crowds!! Thanks again 🥰

Best trip of my life. - Do this trip! It will change your life. I don’t know where to start with my praise. Ray is a master guide who made everyone feel capable and confident. Mirabel took extra time to genuinely connect with my 17 year-old daughter. The food was delicious. The crew fun and efficient. Add to this Ray’s extensive knowledge of history and Mirabel’s understanding of the eco systems. Oh, and it is stunningly beautiful.

He was always attentive to all of us and informed us at all times about each place we went, taking maximum care of every detail. Thank you Chris, without a doubt, I would repeat this experience with you again. Likewise, the food was spectacular! Andrés our chef prepared super delicious dishes for us every day, everything was super careful even in the presentation, the truth is I was delighted with everything. Thanks andres!! And the porters, excellent!! They did a hard job to move all the things and have them ready for our arrival and for the rest. Thank you very much everyone, you were the best!!!!
