Monkey Business - 3 days - We came to Sumatra for a jungle tour with a group of friends. Ian and his team were good and nice guides. They adapted to our pace and took it easy when the track became a bit more difficult for us. We took plenty of (fruit, water and lunch) breaks when needed. They also knew the jungle and it's animals very well, and knew where to find and spot the monkeys, birds and orangutans. Two of our friends had their birthdays during our tour. The tour guides arranged a surprise for their birthday which so fun! The campsites had rivers to swim in and cool down a bit after the hike. The food in the camp was very good, thanks to the chef! We really enjoyed it! To all the staff of Monkey Buisiness: thank you! We had an amazing and unforgettable time!

Bukit Lawang Jungle Trek - When we booked a flight to Sumatra me and my two friends had no idea what to do. We were reading online that we had to go see the Orangutangs so we booked it but didn’t know what to expect. When we were looking to book we were put in immediate contact with Geo straight away who was exceptionally helpful and gave us perfect advice. We ended up booking the 3 day/ 2 night trek. Which was just the most unbelievable experience, from when we were picked up at our hostel until we left on the 3rd day we were well looked after, fed the best in Indonesia and not once bored. It took us 30 minutes into being dropped off to see our first orangutang. Although we might have been lucky, for the rest of the day we managed to see 8/9 orangutangs. Throughout the hike we saw 3 other species of monkeys, turtles, lizards and other animals. When we got to camp after an amazing day of hiking we chilled in the most amazing spot in the world. In the middle of a jungle by a beautiful river, playing cards, different games provided by our leader Ian. Ian was the best leader we could have asked for. Constantly full of energy and character we were never bored or down once. He was always there to bring us up, keep things fun, and make sure we were safe. On the hikes and in the camps we also had two Didis who were the nicest guys. They were always helping us when we needed it and had lunch, snacks and water ready for us whenever we needed. Finally Putra the chef for us, he was an absolute legend who cooked some of the most amazing food, we were always fed to till we were full. I was a bit scared before I wouldn’t have enough food but I can guarantee there was more then enough food. On the final day after a long two days of trekking we were lucky to go down the river via rafting. Just to top off the whole adventure.

Unforgettable experience !! - This was by far one of the most wonderful adventures I could experience so far! And I can recommend this season (March/April), because not too many tourists are around, which makes it even nicer to explore the jungle and observe the animals. We have had a great guide (Andi), who was always there for us, knew lots of things, had eagle sharp eyes to spot animals and was very fun! The cook always prepared us delicious meals too! We were able to spot two orangutan moms with babies, siamang gibbons, pigtail and long tail macaques, thomas leaf monkeys, the hornbill, another huge bird that resembles a peacock, turtles and much more. It was wonderful to swim in the river and sleep amidst the jungle. The rafting back was an adventure too. I can recommend it 10/10 even though it was a physical challenge, it was absolutely worth it! Next time I’d like to do a track of 5-10 days, because it was great and I was sad when it was over. PS: I did also the bat cave tour - was the coolest cave I’ve ever seen! And the raflesia tour as well.

Amazing trip! - Had an amazing trip with Andy and Putra. For sure one of my highlights during my 3,5 months traveling in south east asia. The jungle was beautiful, we saw many different animals (orang-oetan, gibbon, etc.) and the guides were the best!

Relax and workout in pristine jungle - If you're looking for adventure, a challenging workout, and relaxation in a beautiful natural setting, then this is the perfect place for you. The uphill hikes to see the apes can be intense, especially during the rainy season, but March-April is an ideal time to visit. The accommodations are simple, with just a hut, a thin mattress, and a klamboe. You won't find any electricity or running water here, and the toilet is a hole in the ground with a bucket of water and a scooping pan for flushing. But that's all part of being cut off from Western facilities, which people should experience from time to time. And don't expect any WiFi either! The campsites are located next to the river, which serves as your pool, bath, shower, and aircon (definitely not the toilet). And during the dry season, there are no insects to worry about, ladies! The food served here is excellent and made with actual healthy ingredients.

A great trek! - Suria was amazing, answering all of my questions promptly and was always available to help me before the trek. He helped me arrange transport from the airport to my accommodation in Bukit Lawang. I had a great time on this trek! I saw orangutans, Thomas leaf monkeys, a gibbon, and many long-tailed macaques. Our guides, Ian, Putra, Eze, were incredible and made the tour a lot of fun! They also fed us really well! I’d suggest wearing long pants tucked into your socks and wearing good shoes. They loaned me rubber hiking shoes that all the guides had and they worked great if you don’t have hiking shoes. Overall, a great tour for solo travellers!

Amazing experience! - Incredible experience! The staff was attentive and welcoming, always ready to meet our needs. The trekking was very well supervised, offering spectacular landscapes. The food was excellent and delicious, with always plenty to eat and drink. I highly recommend and plan to do the 7 day trek, again with the same team Ian and Ezzy, the Jungles Boys! Thanks again to the whole team !

Recommended - Great experience with Monkey Business. Suria and Gill were lovely and very easy to communicate with via WhatsApp. I am traveling solo and was added to a group. It was 5 of us, with excellent guide Erwin and assistant Ritzie. It was an incredibly memorable experience and we were lucky to have seen SO MUCH wildlife. We saw 7 orang utans, a white-handed gibbon, were briefly chased by a black-handed gibbon, and saw a ton of Thomas’s leaf monkeys, pig-tailed macaques, and long-tailed macaques (also ubiquitous in town). This can be a serious hike; make sure you have adequate footwear.
