After enjoying lunch, the journey continues to sites featuring some of Ethiopia’s most renowned rock-hewn churches, often hailed as “the living wonders of the world.” These churches have stood for at least 900 years, serving as an active Christian shrine and a spiritual hub for the nation’s religious life. The first cluster of churches to be visited includes Bet-Medhane Alem, Bet-Maryam, Bet-Meskel, Bet-Denagel, Bet-Mikael, and Golgotha.

Lalibela - Rock-Hewn Churches - Following breakfast, the group will head to the Yemerhane Kirstos Cave Church. This cave church, constructed inside a natural cave beneath water in the 11th century, predates the churches of Lalibela by nearly 100 years. Inside, visitors will admire ancient paintings. After lunch, the tour will proceed to the second group of churches, which includes Bete Gabriel, Bete Rafael, Bete Emanuel, and Bete Aba Libanos. The visit will culminate with St. George, a church shaped like a cross and likely the highlight of the Lalibela visit.
-
Lalibela - Attendees will participate in a church service at one of Lalibela’s churches, affirming their active status for 900 years, before returning to Lalibela airport in an air-conditioned vehicle.
