A brief but exciting tour of Ethiopia - We spent 9 wonderful days in Ethiopia. Daniel and his professional team guided us through some of the most iconic destinations in the area, from the historical and cultural treasures of Lalibela, the Abune Yemeta Guh and Abune Abreham churches, to the stunning landscapes of the Danakil Depression. Everything was perfectly organized: our needs were always taken into consideration, and Daniel stayed in touch with us, even during the days when we were guided by his colleagues. Although we spent only three days and two nights in Tigray, particularly in the Gheralta region, we highly recommend visiting it with Are, Daniel's local partner. Are's deep humanity is a valuable lens through which to understand the complexities of Ethiopian society. In summary, we highly recommend this entire trip!

Carved churches - I had one day to spend in Lalibela, and Daniel organised a very interesting tour focusing on the most interesting carved churches. It was amazing! Lalibela has a unique kind of Christianity, and Daniel knows a lot about the history of the place. Also the tour that followed in Afar Region was organised by Dan Lalibela tours. It was remarkable and everything ran as planned. I can strongly recommend Dan Lalibela tours!

Top Notch Guide with above and beyond attitude - When a trip to Madagascar was suddenly cancelled, I faced the prospect of being ‘stranded’ in Rwanda with no forwarding address. A stressful situation, especially as a mature woman and solo traveler. Then I came across Daniel Shewalem of Dan Lalibela Tours in Ethiopia (NOT to be confused with Lalibela Ethiopian tours), who proved to be my guardian angel. Dan helped me to book travel tickets, work through several unforeseen difficulties, and mapped out an absorbing itinerary geared to my interests and budget. As a guide, he is an excellent communicator, and extremely knowledgeable, especially about the historical and cultural significance of Lalibela and the surrounding area. Staying here was the perfect introduction to this extraordinary country where the landscapes roam from lush, rolling mountains, to vast expanses of salt plains, desert sands and vistas of volcanic rock that stretch to the horizon. And then there’s the Omo Valley, as richly diverse in its countryside as in its many tribal communities. Dan ‘s care, kindness and professionalism are exceptional, and this far-reaching itinerary was successful because of his excellent resources: a network of regional guides and drivers who reflected those same ‘above and beyond’ qualities. I have had many travel experiences in my 50+ years of globe-trotting and without doubt, Dan is a rare find. He created one of my most memorable adventures for which I will be eternally grateful.

Best way to spend your 50th birthday - Daniel was amazing. We first went to Bahir Dar and Gondar and then ended at Lalibela. Daniel organized all our transport and accommodation and everything was so well organized. The drivers and guides were excellent, so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The trip to Gondar fell on my 50th birthday and Henok our guide in Gondar went out of his way to make my birthday the best one ever. I would 100% recommend Daniel. We could not have asked for better. It was, thanks to him and his team, a once in a lifetime trip and one that will be remembered forever.

3 Day Christmas Church Tour - Dan was our guide for 3 days during the Christmas celebrations this year in Lalibela. He was extremely knowledgeable and looked after everything from when we arrived in town until we left!
