Built during the 12th and 13th centuries from red volcanic rock, these religious monoliths are a marvel of Christian architecture in Africa. The churches are divided into two groups, each with a unique architectural style. In the morning, visit the Northwestern group including Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Meskel, Bet Danaghel, Bet Mikael, and Bet Golgotha.
