Our journey traverses three distinctive landscapes: a pine woodland, a cypress marsh, and a salt marsh that leads into Lake Pontchartrain. On reaching Lake Pontchartrain’s mouth, given the tide is low and the waters tranquil, there’s a chance to wade, pause for lunch, snacks, and water, and discuss the surrounding geography and fauna.
